Check out another cool historic photo found in storage!

Photo Date: November of 1909.

"Arthur Pratt Warner was the first person in Wisconsin to fly; he was also the first private individual in the country to purchase an airplane. The plane arrived in Beloit disassembled and not only did Warner have to put the plane together without instruction, but he also had to teach himself to fly. A historic marker near Beloit indicates where this first flight took place."

Opposition mounts against GOP historic preservation bill

A bill recently proposed by state lawmakers, Assembly Bill 568, has the potential to essentially eliminate historic preservation in Wisconsin. The bill takes away local control and would remove protections currently in place that help preserve and perpetuate Beloit's historic and culture heritage. If you support historic preservation, please email, call or write your local representatives regarding this proposal.

Sen. Frank Lasee said that the point of the bill provision is to ensure that owners of private property don’t have their rights trumped by the government.
