There are so many good things happening in our region, and we’re excited to shine a light on just a few of them through the inaugural NCRPC Spirit of the Region Awards!

🏆 Today, we’re introducing our first recipient: the Concordia Housing Development Initiative.

A 2022 housing study confirmed what Concordia already knew. The community needed more housing. The response was a comprehensive approach that has brought new life to a former hospital site, added housing through infill development, and brought together local leaders, developers, builders and multiple funding sources to make new housing possible.

The effort is already helping spark additional private housing development and investment in Concordia.

“The biggest takeaway is what can be accomplished through committed leadership, the right partners, and active collaboration across the community,” says Tim Beims, CloudCorp Executive Director.

We’ll officially present the award at NCRPC’s Celebrating Service & Partnerships event on Thursday, September 24, in Minneapolis, which will also include a brief panel discussion with the award recipients.

Learning, connecting & sharing ideas!

Two members of the NCRPC team have been in Council Bluffs, Iowa, this week for the Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas (MINK) Planning District Conference.

Executive Director Deb Ohlde and Assistant Director Keegan Bailey both served as breakout session speakers. Deb also served on the conference planning committee.

We’re excited to see what ideas they bring back to North Central Kansas!

Curt has dedicated decades to serving Mitchell County and North Central Kansas through leadership, economic development, philanthropy, and community service.

Meet Chase Slate, who has joined the NCRPC as a Community Development Representative and will be assisting with our Housing and Community Development programs!

Chase earned his degree in Business Administration from the University of Kansas and most recently worked for RailPros, where he gained experience working on projects across the country.

Originally from Jewell, Kansas, Chase is excited to bring his skills back to the region.

"This position is a great fit because I like rural communities and want to help them out," says Chase.
