NOTICE OF PRIMARY ELECTION

You are hereby notified that a Primary Election will be held on the 4th day of August, 2026; this being the first Tuesday, after the first Monday, in said month, at which time candidates for the following offices will be nominated according to the provisions of law by each of the political parties of this State who qualify to participate in said Primary Election as specified by law:

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING TRANSIENT GUEST TAX

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Commissioners of Mitchell County will hold a public hearing to consider the adoption of Charter Resolution 26-18 levying a Transient Guest Tax.

Hearing Date: March 30, 2026
Time: 8:30 a.m.
Location: Mitchell County Commissioner’s Room, Mitchell County Courthouse

The governing body is considering a transient guest tax rate of 4% upon the gross receipts derived from the rental of sleeping accommodations in hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, and short-term rentals within Mitchell County.

The revenue from this tax is proposed to be used to promote tourism in accordance with Kansas State Statute K.S.A. 12-1697.

All interested parties may appear at the hearing to express their views regarding the proposed tax. Written comments may be submitted to Mitchell County Clerk’s Office, PO Box 190, Beloit, KS 67420 prior to the hearing.
