Today is the final day to register your kid for our STEAM camp & competition!

Students in grades 5 & up will be sorted into groups, design a project, create a business plan & logo, learn about maker technology, 3d print their product prototype, and present their pitch in front of a panel of judges. This is a great opportunity for young entrepreneurs, science enthusiasts, and artists to hone their skills.

The final 2 hours of the Friends of the Library book sale are upon us! There are there till 3PM with discount prices.

The friends of the library say they got hit pretty hard yesterday with over 12 heaping boxes leaving in the first half hour, but they are only about $45 away from their goal for the sale thanks to the community’s awesome support!

They will be in our meeting room today until 3 or everything is gone! If you are an audio book reader you still have a TON of options!

The Belpre Friends are starting to set up for tomorrow’s book sale! Lots of bestsellers in paperback and hardcover. Also,If you are an audiobook reader here is your chance to stock up for super cheap and help raise funds to support library programming. They say there is nothing over $1!

Despite the rain, our drop in kids sunflower planting program this morning from 9-11 with the master gardeners is still happening, we will just move indoors if we need to!

No registration necessary, just drop in and learn about seeds and leave with your own sunflower seed in a pot!

And, as a testimonial of how much fun these classes are, one of our participants WAS RELEASED FROM A POST SURGICAL CARE FACILITY THIS MORNING AND CAME TO THE LIBRARY TO JUST *WAIT AND SEE IF SHE COULD GET OFF THE WAITLIST* !!!!

She did. It was great. Now she needs to go home and nap! Librarian’s orders!

The new Belpre Friends of the Library group is planning a book sale June 19th & 20th in the library meeting room. This group will help cover costs of future programming at our library as well as other literacy based initiatives. We are not even going to pretend that THIS camp isn't what we are most excited for... BUT we somehow still have space available!

We have a busy schedule planned with presenters from many different organizations all coordinated by Mrs. Elizabeth King, representing both Washington State College and Appalachian Ohio Manufacturers' Coalition. Our presentations will include a hands on visit from AOMC with a trailer full of maker tech that the kids get to interact with, a guest presenter from the McDonough Center for Leadership and Business at Marietta College to discuss ethical leadership and team building, and a marketing/branding specialist who will help the kids develop their project identity. We will learn not only how to use CAD software to design & print 3d mock ups of our projects, but how to do market research, create business strategies, work on public speaking skills/ business pitches and even receive an introduction to some basic small business organization concepts! The students will end their time presenting their pitch to panalists from local organizations and winners will be chosen.

It is going to be an incredible camp and we are so grateful for the organizations that are donating their time and helping us to put this on for our kids.
