Community Reminder: Call 911 First

Even in a small, close-knit community like Belt, 911 should always be your first call for any fire or medical emergency.

Calling a responder directly can delay help. When you call 911, dispatch can immediately alert crews, send the right resources, and coordinate the response.

Calling 911 doesn’t always mean lights and sirens—it means the right response.

Even if it seems minor, calling 911 ensures the fastest, most coordinated help possible.

Thank you for supporting your local volunteers.

🚒🔥 Mutual Aid Response 🔥🚒

Yesterday at 4:09 PM, our department was dispatched to provide mutual aid to the Highwood Rural Fire Department for a wildland fire.

The fire burned approximately 50 acres before being brought under control.

This is a friendly reminder to please use caution with any fire activity during these unseasonably dry conditions. A small spark can turn into a large incident quickly.

Thank you to all agencies involved for the strong teamwork and safe operations.

🔥 October is Fire Prevention Month 🔥

This October, the Belt Rural Fire District was proud to host a Fire Prevention event in coordination with the Belt School, working hands-on with students to promote fire safety and awareness.

We’d like to extend a big thank-you to the Malmstrom Air Force Base Fire Department, who joined forces with us to provide an engaging educational experience — complete with fire safety props and demonstrations. The teamwork and participation made it an awesome learning opportunity for our local kids.

📚 Did you know?
Fire Prevention Week (and later, Fire Prevention Month) began in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, which burned from October 8–10 and destroyed thousands of buildings. In its aftermath, fire safety education became a national priority — and it remains one of the most important lessons we can pass on to our youth today.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Fire Prevention Month a success! 🚒👏
