🚨 FACT CHECK: BALLOT MARKINGS 🚨

Archer County Elections wants to address some misinformation currently circulating on Facebook regarding poll workers writing on ballots.

Please know that official markings made by election workers do NOT automatically disqualify your ballot! In fact, Texas Election Code requires certain markings on the back of ballots.

We want our voters to feel confident and informed when casting their ballots. Please take a moment to read the information below and help us stop the spread of misinformation by sharing accurate information.

Yesterday afternoon, the Bell County Elections Department learned the local impact of a Secretary of State backlog of voter registration applications. The Tax Office and other Bell County public buildings are on lockdown due to the ongoing incident in the Belton area. Please stay away from the area and if you need immediate vehicle registration needs, please visit one of our Substations in Temple or Killeen.

The Bell County Sheriff’s Office , Belton Police and other State Agencies have an incident on Farm to Market 93 east of IH35. Please avoid the area.

Sorry for the confusion on the Interstate number. This post was done by staff on scene in the thick of the situation.
