We are grateful to The South Carolina Forestry Commission for awarding Whitefield Volunteer Fire Department a Volunteer Fire Assistance (VFA) 50/50 matching grant.

Through this program, Whitefield recently purchased seven handheld two-way radios to enhance firefighter safety and strengthen emergency communications in the wildland-urban interface.

These radios will support both local emergency response operations and statewide firefighter mobilization efforts during large-scale incidents, including deployments such as the recent Table Rock and Persimmon Ridge fires.

We recently had the opportunity to provide CPR awareness training following a medical emergency in our community. With the help of the Community Education Coordinator from Anderson Fire Department - South Carolina and Sierra Baptist Church, we were able to train members of a local neighborhood and church.

Moments like these highlight how important it is for everyday citizens to be prepared. You never know when you may be in a position to save a life.

We appreciate the partnerships and the willingness of our community to learn and step up for one another.

State Forestry aircraft located this brush pile burning in our area today during aerial patrol. All outdoor burning continues to be prohibited by South Carolina Forestry until the ban is lifted.

Big thanks to ACTC for use of their firefighter training facility tonight. Our crews trained on structural firefighting, search and rescue, and downed firefighter scenarios. Having access to a facility like this allows us to refresh and sharpen our skills in a safe, controlled environment so we’re ready to respond when it matters most!

Whitefield Fire Department and Hopewell Fire/Rescue 20 crews responded to a vehicle vs. tree crash on Midway Rd overnight. Firefighters, EMS and deputies worked quickly to extricate the driver from the wreckage. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the incident.
