Belton Fire Department

This morning personnel from the Fire department will be conducting a water rescue training exercise at Somerset Park. Residents may notice emergency vehicles, rescue equipment, and personnel operating in around the water. This is a planned training event and there’s no emergency. We appreciate the community support as we continue to train and prepare to protect those we serve.

"I have no ambition in this world but one, and that is to be a fireman. The position may, in the eyes of some, appear to be a lowly one; but we who know the work which the fireman has to do believe that his is a noble calling. Our proudest moment is to save lives. Under the impulse of such thoughts, the nobility of the occupation thrills us and stimulates us to deeds of daring, even of supreme sacrifice." -Chief Edward Croker, FDNY 1899-1911

On the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, the Belton Fire Department pauses to remember the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice, along with the thousands of lives lost that day.

We remember the courage of those who ran toward danger when others were running away. We remember the families, friends, and communities forever changed. And we remember the countless first responders who continued to serve in the days, months, and years that followed—many paying a lasting price for their service.

Twenty-five years later, their legacy continues to live in every firefighter who puts on the uniform, answers the call, and stands ready to help a neighbor in their moment of greatest need.

To those who came before us: we remember your sacrifice, we honor your service, and we carry your legacy forward.

To the firefighters serving today: may we never forget the responsibility and privilege of wearing this uniform.

From the Belton Fire Department, we remember. 🇺🇸

Never Forget.

Six members of the Belton Fire Department joined first responders today for the annual Kansas City 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. Climbing 110 stories—matching the height of the World Trade Center towers—they carried full gear and the names of 343 fallen FDNY brothers and sisters to pay tribute to their sacrifice.
We are proud of our BFD crew for keeping their memory alive. We will .
