Join us for the Boone County Airborne Mapping Demonstration on March 8th at Poplar Grove Airport to learn about this groundbreaking project. See the helicopter up close, explore interactive stations, and discover how scientists are using 3D mapping to protect our water resources. Live helicopter demo at 12 PM!

USDA will release the first tranche of funding that was paused due to the review of funding in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). In alignment with The White House directives, Secretary Rollins will honor contracts that were already made directly to farmers.

Join us for this free event from 10 AM to 2 PM on March 8th at the Poplar Grove Airport to learn about the exciting aerial groundwater study happening right here in Boone County. The Illinois Department of Agriculture is implementing its inaugural Infield Conservation for Operationalizing Vital Ecosystem Resilience (I-COVER) Program. The program is intended to promote the implementation of cover crops and the adoption of new technologies to implement cover via the Partners for Conservation (PFC) Program using the USDA-Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) multi-state grant. The I-COVER Program includes a multi-state partnership between Illinois, Indiana and Iowa.

✅ Pre-enrollment period starts Monday, February 10, at 8 AM CST.
✅ Applications can be submitted starting Monday, March, at 8 AM CST.
✅ Applications submissions must be in by Friday, March, at 11:59 PM CST.

This once-in-a lifetime event for Boone County residents will showcase cutting-edge advancements in groundwater mapping technology. Hosted by Boone County in partnership with the Prairie Research Institute, Northern Illinois Regional Groundwater Planning and Protection Committee, and University of Illinois Extension Office, this event will engage participants to learn about the water resources of the county.
