We have seen an increase in vehicle break-ins throughout the city. Thieves are targeting unlocked cars and visible items such as purses, wallets, phones, cash, and fi****ms.

• Always lock your vehicle, even in your driveway.
• Do not leave valuables in plain sight.
• Park in well-lit areas when possible.
• Report any suspicious activity immediately to the Belzoni Police Department.

The Belzoni Police Department has made a third arrest in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred at the Double Quick Convenience Store on October 17, 2025.

Lacoya Cason, age 22 and Terrell Hollins, age 23, was taken into custody Friday.
Mareceo Woods, age 26, was taken into custody on Sunday in relation to this ongoing investigation.

On October 18, 2025, the Belzoni Police Department responded to reports of a shooting that occurred at the Double Quick convenience store located on Highway 49 in Belzoni, Mississippi. Officers arrived promptly on the scene and secured the area.

Through the swift and coordinated efforts of responding officers and investigators, two subjects have been taken into custody in connection with the incident. At this time, the investigation remains active and ongoing.

The Belzoni Police Department would like to assure the public that there is no further threat to community safety related to this incident. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
