WARM AND DRY... that pattern continues. The Climate Prediction Center's forecast signals warmer than average temperatures for early June. If you like the 80's and 90's, you're in for a treat. The rest of us, get those AC units ready. Precipitation has equal chances for above/below average and near normal... however, we have a deficit to make up. Conditions remain dry, if you've recently mowed your lawn that is evident in areas that have missed out on the limited recent rainfall.

An active weather pattern starts midweek with the chances of thunderstorms and finally some better chances for rain!

An interactive way to see the efforts to reforest Beltrami County!

With all the trees lost, time to reforest!

If you’re planting trees this season, we want to hear from you! Add your planting location to the community map and help track restoration efforts across Beltrami County. Every tree added to the map tells the story of families, friends, and neighbors coming together to renew the forests we all love.

1. Plant a tree (or a hundred)
2. Put it on the map
3. Take pride in renewing the Northwoods

By sharing where new trees are being planted, you’re helping create a living map of recovery across our community. This information helps track progress, identify areas that still need attention, and celebrate the work being done together.

DROUGHT MONITOR...

The Drought Monitor was released yesterday and we have seen an expansion in the abnormally dry area as well as the moderate drought. Unfortunately, the moderate drought area has expanded to include much of the blowdown area.

Drought conditions will not improve over the next week as our summer weather continues. Temps in the 90's today and mid to upper 80's into next week with minimal chances of precipitation until midweek.

Please continue to be fire aware and be safe... fire conditions remain elevated (and will for quite some time).

If you are heading out for Memorial Day services, very nice weather wise. The unofficial start of summer is right on time, temps in the mid to upper 80’s much of the week. We are also heading into a dry stretch with elevated fire risk again with low humidity and breezy winds. Please be fire safe.

Have a safe Memorial Day. We stand with those who have lost loved ones in the line of service to our country and never forget the sacrifices of those who have served.

FREEZE WARNING... it was nice to wake up to some mud puddles, but they may have some ice on them tomorrow if they're still around. Below freezing temps are expected overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. If you planted early, plan accordingly.

Well, the rainfall last night was a little underwhelming. More showers this evening expected, but only up to 1/4" of rain expected. Chilly midweek before rain chances return Thursday.

At least the wind died down finally...

The wind yesterday was relentless and it blew dust all the way from Montana to Minnesota.

While not as strong as yesterday, winds and dry conditions combined with temps near 80 will create extreme fire danger today. A Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 9pm.

Rain chances finally return to the area on Sunday. Much needed rain is expected into early next week.
