Tonight, the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department teamed up with the North Lake Fire Department for a joint training session at the Bemus Point Fire House.

Our crews ran through multiple high-intensity drills, focusing on the critical, split-second skills required on the fireground.Firefighters practiced deploying and charging hose lines, advancing lines into structures, and performing rapid victim search and rescue operations.Teams also sharpened their skills in fire suppression, pump operations, and forcible entry techniques.Every single one of these tactics is a vital link in the chain when it comes to saving lives and protecting property.

Continuous drilling and training are the backbone of a prepared fire department.Fire-grounds are chaotic, fast-moving, and unpredictable. By practicing these core skills repeatedly under controlled conditions, they become second nature. This constant preparation ensures that when the tone drops, our firefighters can act with speed, precision, and absolute confidence.

Joint training sessions like tonight's also allow neighboring departments to build seamless communication and teamwork, ensuring a stronger, more unified response when a real emergency strikes our communities.

Thank you to the members of both departments who dedicated their evening to keeping our skills sharp and our communities safe!

Tonight, the Bemus Point Fire Department proudly celebrates the official dedication of our new 2026 Stanley fire boat. This milestone represents a major advancement in our community’s emergency response capabilities. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Skerl, Phillips, and Brodell families for their donations, and to the Town and Village Boards for their steadfast support. We also want to express our sincere appreciation to every single member of our community whose continuous donations and support keep our department strong.

This cutting-edge vessel allows our crew to keep pace with modern marine technology, ensuring rapid fire suppression, medical transport, and search-and-rescue operations on the water. We also want to share a special thank you with

Captain Brian Kennedy from Stanley Boats, whose invaluable 1:1 training has prepared our members to operate this vessel at the highest standard.

Thank you to everyone in our amazing community who made this vital lifesaver a reality for Bemus Point.
