Thank you for teaching us NAMI Central Oregon!

NAMI Central Oregon was pleased to present a StigmaFree Workplace session to the leadership of Council on Aging of Central Oregon including canine companion, Tank, who joined our circle to provide emotional support.

NAMI’s StigmaFree Workplace provides no-cost resources and tools to create judgment-free, supportive workplaces where employees can talk about mental health and get help. Beyond the presentation, we open a dialogue so staff can share openly and keep the conversation going inside their organization long after we’ve left.

Huge thanks to the residents and staff at Touchmark at Mount Bachelor Village Retirement Community for turning their empty cans into thousands of dollars for the Council on Aging each year! That is serious dedication to the art of recycling.

We love seeing great things happening for older adults in Jefferson County! Central Oregon Daily News recently featured the Jefferson County Senior & Community Center and the great changes they've made to their menus. Community dining is available in Madras on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12:00 pm – 12:30 pm.

Homemade meals are bringing more than full plates to the Jefferson County Community Center in Madras. Seniors say the lunches are creating friendship, conversation and a stronger sense of community.

In observance of Memorial Day, the Council on Aging will be closed on Monday, May 25. We will reopen for normal operations on Tuesday, May 26.
