ACTION NEEDED! There will be a climate strike held at City Hall in Bend this Wed 6/18 at 6pm. This is an opportunity for you to show your support for stronger electrification policies that would reduce GHG emissions in Bend.

City Council is saying that there are not enough people interested in climate action. Our goal is to turn that around! Help us make a loud and clear statement.

How you can make an impact:

1) Attend the strike to show your support for a transition to cleaner power in Bend's homes and buildings (6pm)

2) Give public testimony at City Hall after the strike (2 mins allowed per person) - 7pm (if you can't attend in person, you can give testimony via Zoom.

3) Public comments can be submitted through a google form (scan QR code for info)

We hope to see you there!

Youth and Environment unite! The Eastern Oregon Youth Outreach Survey is live! The Eastern Oregon Outreach student team at Our Future has been planning and developing this survey for nearly a year now, with the goal of connecting with youth in Eastern Oregon who are curious about environmental issues, and so Our Future students can learn more about the environmental issues affecting Eastern Oregon. We have created both an English version and a Spanish version of the survey, with the hopes of reaching as many 6th-12th grade students as possible.

Our student team has worked with EOC3 members to develop the youth survey, gathering feedback from adults in the region to ensure that the language we use is the most effective in gathering responses from eastern Oregon youth. As we gather responses from students in different counties, student liaisons will follow up with survey respondents who indicate interest in being contacted.

Please share this survey with any youth you know in Eastern Oregon, especially those who want to connect with other youth across Oregon on solving environmental issues.

If you’d like to contact Our Future, please email [email protected].

Oregon has nearly $300 million of climate change fighting federal grants on hold that would improve and protect clean air and water for Oregonians, while creating thousands of jobs. Read more about the freeze and its implications at the link below:

The state’s largest federal grant, a $197 million Climate Pollution Reduction Grant, and the $86 million Solar For All Grant are suspended. Oregon agencies don't know when — or if — the promised funds will be released.

Happy Valentines Day! Speaking of love, who doesn't LOVE a local climate solution? The City of Bend is considering regulations for natural gas appliances going into new construction as a way to curb our cities greenhouse gas emissions. Not only are electric appliances better for the planet, they are better for our health too. Gas stoves increase the risk of children developing asthma and other respiratory problems.

Bend Bulletin published a fantastic opinion piece about how new energy generation, storage, and transmission technologies are making going fully electric more possible than ever. We highly recommend this short read in the link below:

Please contact your Members of Congress and remind them that Congress has control over federal spending, not the President. Congressional districts across the country, regardless of party affiliation, have benefitted from the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Dismantling the IRA without Congressional approval will have profound impacts on our communities, economy, and America becoming the leader in developing technologies of the future.

Visit cclusa.org/defend-IRA-data for information on where IRA resources have gone and what representatives you can reach out to.
