STEM Camp is complete!!! We made 3D Structures, how much salt does it take to make an egg float, Paper Airplanes with paper clip to see how far they fly and Egg Drop. Our odds were against us with 4 out of the 6 eggs breaking.

Latest Case ( #7) is in Edwards County. Parts of the following 10 counties are affected by the quarantine: Gillespie, Edwards, Kerr, Kimble, Lasalle, Sutton, Uvalde, Val Verde, Webb, and Zavala. So far TAHC has been the best source for the most current info. This is one I would bookmark.

Updated Availability!!!! STEM, Sewing, and Copper Breaks are almost full 🙂

First Responders Camp has unlimited registrations available. Get registered, and bring a friend. Not limited to Knox County residents. Some of the many participants are- Abilene PD, CSI Team, Security Forces from Sheppard Air Force Base, Mobile Command Unit + many more. They are bringing their ‘toys’ and hands on activities.

On June 7th, USDA announced two additional NWS cases in Texas- a calf in La Salle County with an umbilical lesion, and a dog in Andrews County.

*UPDATE* The NWS case in Andrews County has been reclassified by USDA to be the first case in New Mexico, not Texas: https://bit.ly/USDA-NWSNM

An additional infested zone has been established in La Salle and Webb County, and additional epidemiological investigations are occurring to learn more about the case in Andrews County. Second case confirmed

On June 5th, a sample collected from a 30-day-old calf in Zavala County was confirmed to be New World screwworm (NWS). This is the second confirmed case of NWS in Texas, and is located within the existing infested zone. Animal health officials are actively working the case and continuing to expand fly trapping and surveillance efforts to identify additional flies in the area.

Animal owners and livestock producers in Texas should actively monitor their animals and quickly treat and cover any wounds. This area is currently under movement restrictions through the Executive Director Order issued on June 3rd.
