Our hearts are heavy today as we stand with our neighbors in Archer County.

There are moments when words simply aren’t enough, and this is one of them. We ask everyone across Knox County to join us in lifting Archer County up in prayer.

🙏 Pray for the families facing unimaginable heartbreak.
🙏 Pray for the first responders who answered the call and continue to serve.
🙏 Pray for strength, comfort, healing, and peace in the difficult days ahead.

In law enforcement, county lines may separate our jurisdictions, but they do not separate the brotherhood, the friendships, or the communities we serve.

From all of us at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Archer County, you are in our hearts, you are in our thoughts, and most importantly, you are in our prayers.

I want to take a moment to recognize an accomplishment that may not sound significant to everyone, but in the corrections world, it absolutely is.

The Knox County Jail was built in 1951. Maintaining a 75-year-old facility and keeping it in compliance with the standards set by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards is no easy task.

I am extremely proud to announce that the Knox County Jail passed its state inspection with ZERO DEFICIENCIES.

That is something worth recognizing.

Operating an older jail presents challenges that newer facilities simply don't face. Every day requires constant attention to safety, security, inmate care, documentation, maintenance, training, and countless state requirements. Zero deficiencies doesn't happen by accident, and it doesn't happen by getting ready the day before an inspection. It comes from doing the job right every single day.

I want to personally recognize Jail Captain K. Hacker, Jail Lieutenant M. Armendariz, and every one of our jailers.They carry a tremendous responsibility behind those walls, and much of their work is never seen by the public.

Keeping a jail built in 1951 operating under today's standards is difficult enough.Passing a state inspection with ZERO DEFICIENCIES speaks volumes about the people running it.

This was earned through hard work, accountability, attention to detail, and pride in the job.

Captain Hacker, Lieutenant Armendariz, and our jailers outstanding work. You earned this one, and I am proud of this team.

🚌 WELL… SUMMER IS OVER, KNOX COUNTY!📚

Parents are celebrating, kids are questioning all their life choices, and teachers are probably wondering where the summer went. That can only mean one thing…

SCHOOL IS BACK!😎

So, before everybody hits the road, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office has a few friendly reminders:

🚌 SCHOOL BUS = BIG YELLOW VEHICLE YOU CAN'T MISS.
When those red lights start flashing and that stop sign comes out STOP. It ain't a suggestion. And “I was running late” isn't going to make that ticket any cheaper. 😂

🚸 WATCH THE CROSSWALKS.
There will be kids walking, running, dragging backpacks bigger than they are, and occasionally moving with absolutely zero sense of urgency. Give them room!

🐌 SLOW DOWN IN SCHOOL ZONES.
That speed limit sign isn't a recommendation either. Our deputies know where the school zones are…and yes, we have radar. 👀🚔

📱PUT THE PHONE DOWN.
Facebook will still be there when you get where you're going. That text can wait. TikTok definitely can wait.

⏰ LEAVE THE HOUSE 5 MINUTES EARLIER.
We promise it's cheaper than explaining to a deputy why you were doing NASCAR qualifying speeds through a school zone because you needed coffee. ☕😂

Seriously, folks these are our kids.Slow down, pay attention, stop for the buses, and let's make sure every student gets to school and back home safely.

Good luck to all our students, teachers, staff, and especially the parents trying to get everybody out the door on time! 😂

🚔 WHAT A JULY! 🚔

July was one heck of a busy month around the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

There were long days, late nights, plenty of miles put on patrol vehicles, calls for service, traffic stops, investigations, arrests, court, jail operations, 911 calls, and a whole lot happening behind the scenes that most people will never see.

But looking back on this month, there's one thing I really want to say:

THANK YOU.

To my Deputies thank you for answering the phone, getting in the truck, and going wherever you're needed. Thank you for the long hours and for continuing to be proactive and work hard for this county.

To my Jailers people don't always see what happens behind those jail doors. It's a difficult and sometimes thankless job, but you continue showing up and getting it done. I see your work, and I appreciate you.

To my Dispatchers y'all are truly the lifeline behind everything we do. You answer people on some of their worst days, keep track of officers and first responders, and somehow manage the phones, radios, and everything else happening at once. Thank you.

I also want to recognize our District Attorney’s Office and prosecutors, our County Attorney, Judges, County Commissioners, and the employees of the Knox County Courthouse.

Thank you for working with us, supporting us, and understanding that it takes ALL OF US working together to serve this county.

And finally, to the citizens of Knox County:

Your support has meant more to me than I can put into a Facebook post.

The handshakes, messages, phone calls, encouraging words, prayers, and people simply stopping me and saying, “Keep up the good work” I hear you, and I appreciate every bit of it.

There are going to be tough days. There are going to be long nights. We're going to make mistakes, learn from them, and keep moving forward.

But one thing isn't going to change:

We're going to keep showing up. We're going to keep working. And we're going to keep doing everything we can to take care of Knox County.

We're a small county. We're a small Sheriff's Office.

But we've got some good people who care about this place.

I'm proud of my crew.
I'm proud of the people we work beside.
And I'm proud to be your Sheriff.

A proactive traffic stop conducted by the Chief Deputy and K-9 Deputy resulted in the seizure of suspected fentanyl and a significant amount of U.S. currency believed to be connected to criminal activity.

The individual arrested in connection with this investigation was identified as Bernhard Dyck.

This is exactly why proactive policing matters. What starts as a traffic stop can quickly turn into getting dangerous drugs off the highway and out of our communities.

Great work by our Chief Deputy and K-9 Deputy. Way to keep Knox County safe.

Yesterday was another reminder of what makes Knox County special.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office was honored to assist with traffic control and scene security during the fire at the Knox City Country Club. While we all hate to see a landmark in our community suffer this kind of loss, I couldn't be proud of the way our first responders came together.

I want to personally thank Officer Blackburn with the Knox City Police Department and Fire Chief Bill Stewart that helped Sheriff Thrash , they did an outstanding job serving in Incident Command. Their leadership, communication, and calm decision making helped keep this incident stay organized and safe from start to finish.

I also want to thank the Knox City Fire Department, Munday Volunteer Fire Department, Benjamin Volunteer Fire Department, Knox County Hospital District (Medic 1 & Medic 2), Knox City Public Works, and every firefighter, EMT, law enforcement officer, and volunteer who answered the call last night. It doesn't matter what patch we wear we all have one mission: to protect the people of Knox County.

To our deputies, thank you for your professionalism and for keeping the scene secure while allowing our fire crews the room they needed to do their job.

The Knox City Country Club has been deemed structurally unsafe due to the collapse. Please respect the caution tape and stay out of the area. You may continue to see or smell smoke as crews monitor remaining hot spots.

Finally, thank you to the citizens of Knox County for your patience, your prayers, and your support. Your encouragement means more than you know to the men and women who serve this county every day.

We are blessed to have first responders who don't hesitate to answer the call, no matter the time or the challenge.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office has received reports of scammers contacting people by phone and pretending to be law enforcement.

Please remember:
❌ We will NEVER call you demanding money.
❌ We will NEVER ask you to pay to avoid arrest or clear up a warrant.
❌ We will NEVER tell you to pay using Bitcoin, cryptocurrency, gift cards, Cash App, Venmo, or any other electronic payment method.

If someone calls claiming to be from the Sheriff's Office and demands immediate payment, it's a scam.

If you receive one of these calls:
• Hang up immediately.
• Do not send money or provide personal information.
• Contact the Knox County Sheriff's Office using our official phone number to verify any claims.

Please share this post to help protect your family, friends, and neighbors from becoming victims of these scams.
