** 911 supervisor**
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for the position of Telecommunications Supervisor for 911
Applicants must be able to obtain TCOLE telecommunicators license within one year of hire date
This position requires a through working knowledge of dispatch and telecommunication procedures. The individual is responsible for the supervision of the telecommunications operators on their shift when the telecommunications supervisor is not on duty. The individual has daily contact with the public, operates radio equipment, dispatches 911 calls, maintains communication records, completes validation reports for the state and is responsible for operation of the telecommunication center radio and phone recorder
Other duties include but are not limited to:
Scheduling telecommunications operators
Assist other agencies with confirmation or information
Assist with set up and operation of the 911 center during a natural disaster
Assist in maintaining accurate employee training records
Maintains communication with other law enforcement personnel including fire and EMS agencies
Operate as a Telecommunications Operator as needed, based on the needs of the Telecommunications Section which includes: Monitor all radio channels at console, receive information via radio, telephone and/or 911 and dispatch proper authorities as necessary
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to effectively present information
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations
Process documentation from local and out of county, state, and national agencies as well as from county and district courts
