UPDATE – McCOLL ELEMENTARY MIDDLE SCHOOL

The modified lockdown at McColl Elementary Middle School has been lifted.

The modified lockdown was implemented as a safety precaution while school officials and law enforcement investigated the reported concern.

The investigation determined that the concern stemmed from a social media exchange involving our students and a student from another school district. After reviewing the circumstances and the comments that were made, school officials and law enforcement determined that the exchange did not constitute a viable threat to the school, students, or staff.

Any student-related matters arising from the incident have been addressed by school administration in accordance with the Marlboro County School District Code of Conduct. In accordance with student privacy requirements, the district cannot provide additional information regarding individual students or any disciplinary actions.

Normal school operations have resumed.

We appreciate the prompt response and cooperation of law enforcement, school staff, students, and families. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support.

IMPORTANT SCHOOL SAFETY UPDATE – McCOLL ELEMENTARY MIDDLE SCHOOL

This morning, a student at **McColl Elementary Middle School** reported rumors of a potential threat to a school administrator. Out of an abundance of caution, the school has been placed on a **modified lockdown** while school officials and law enforcement investigate the report.

At this time, the situation is being actively investigated. The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority.

We appreciate the cooperation of our students, staff, and families. Additional information will be shared with families as appropriate once the investigation is complete.

IMPORTANT

At approximately 6:10 a.m. this morning, Bus #27 was involved in an accident on Highway 9 early in its route while picking up students who attend Wallace Elementary Middle School. First responders responded promptly to the scene.

We are thankful to report that everyone involved is safe. Families of the students involved have been notified.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We appreciate the prompt response and assistance of our first responders.

TRANSPORTATION UPDATE – WALLACE

Attention Parents and Guardians:

Wallace Bus #27 is running late this morning. Please be assured that all students who have not yet been picked up will be picked up.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to safely transport all students to school.

Marlboro County School District would like to inform families of an incident involving Marlboro County High School Bus Route 16 that occurred at approximately 4:33 p.m. today near Dollar General.

A vehicle pulled out in front of the school bus, resulting in an incident involving the bus. We are thankful to report that all students, the bus driver, and the bus monitor are safe and doing well.

Parents were notified immediately. Some parents were able to pick up their children, while the remaining students were safely transported home.

First responders were notified and responded to the scene.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We appreciate our families for their patience and understanding.
