Join the Bennington Fire Department and Nebraska Community Blood Bank for a community blood drive on Monday, June 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bennington Fire Department Station.

Every blood donation has the potential to help save up to three lives, and every unit collected stays local to support patients at our area hospitals.

Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB) has declared a blood emergency as supplies drop to less than a two-day supply overall and under one day for type O blood, the most critical type used in emergency care. The shortage comes at the start of summer’s “trauma season,” when hospitals typically see a rise in serious injuries, including car crashes and other emergencies requiring large volumes of blood. Please Join us on June 22nd for our blood drive and save a life!

Yesterday afternoon, Bennington Fire responded to the 6500 blk of N 148th St. for a house fire. On arrival crews encountered fire in the rear, and reports of multiple people trapped. A second alarm was requested. Primary and secondary searches proved negative and one person was treated and transported to a local hospital. Bennington 601, 631, 640, 650, and 611 operated for approximately 3 hours.
