SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at approximately 6:40 a.m., the Bennington Police Department executed a search warrant at 221 Union Street in Bennington, Vermont, as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

As a result of the search warrant, four individuals were taken into custody and charged with various drug-related offenses.

During the search, officers recovered approximately 84 grams of suspected crack co***ne, 96 grams of co***ne, and 126 grams of ma*****na were located inside the residence.

The Bennington Police Department assisted with this operation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Bennington County Sheriff’s Department, United Counseling Service, Vermont State Police, Bennington County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the Department of Corrections-Bennington Probation & Parole.

LODGED: Blair and Bourn lodged at Marble Valley Correctional Center

BAIL: $10,000 on Blair and Bourn was released to the Vermont Dept of Corrections.

Strong storm cells came through Bennington at about 8:00 pm which resulted in power lines and trees down. Multiple areas have power outages. We are asking people not to drive or walk in the area of Depot Street. Several traffic signals at intersections are nonfunctional at this time. We ask that you use caution when traveling. Bennington Police, Bennington Fire, Town Resources and Green Mountain Power are all on scene to resolve the issues quickly.

You may have seen us out in the streets this morning as the Bennington Police Department, in partnership with Bennington Rescue and Bennington Probation & Parole, proudly kicked off the Special Olympics Vermont Torch Run. Law enforcement officers, first responders, and community members gathered in Bennington, the southernmost part of Vermont, to begin the ceremonial torch run across the state. Our particular section of the run consisted of approximately 6 miles traveling from the Bennington Battle Monument to Shaftsbury Elementary School.

Yesterday, Corporal Jones attended the torch lighting ceremony where he represented the Bennington Police Department at the State House in Montpelier. There, he lit and received Bennington’s torch before returning it for today’s kickoff.

For those involved, the Torch Run means far more than exercise. It is an opportunity to bring our community together, raise awareness, and demonstrate our unwavering support for the dedicated and inspiring athletes of the Vermont Special Olympics. Their determination, perseverance, and positive spirit continue to motivate us all.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Shaftsbury Elementary School, where today’s event concluded, for their generous donation to Vermont Special Olympics and for their enthusiastic support of this meaningful cause. Shaftsbury Elementary, Molly Stark Elementary as well as Monument Elementary students all showed their support roadside by holding signs and chanting with excitement as our runners passed through.

We would also like to recognize Celine Blair for the beautiful painting she created for the Bennington Police Department. Her thoughtful artwork, expressing appreciation for our participation and dedication to the Torch Run, is truly appreciated and serves as a reminder of the positive impact this event has throughout our community.

The Bennington Police Department fundraising efforts generated $755, which will directly support programs for athletes throughout the state.

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, cheered us on, and helped make today’s event a success. We look forward to following the torch’s journey as it continues across Vermont in support of the athletes of the Special Olympics of Vermont.
