The Martin Luther King Vigil and Presentation was such a wonderful event. On behalf of the members of the Bennington County Time Bank, we are delighted that you stopped by our informational table and are interested in joining our community of individuals interested in building a resilient community through the exchange of services.
Below are resources to introduce our organization and instructions for enrolling in our organization.
We believe that every member of a community has something of value to contribute and that each person’s contribution, that builds a better community, is equally valued. A database is used to list the services that members are willing to offer and/or the services they are requesting. An hour of service to any member earns you a time-credit that entitles you to an hour of service from any member. The software keeps track of the time-credit accounts.
VIDEO INTRODUCTION
The first 14 minutes of this video will give you an introduction to how our members interact with each other, what your rights and responsibilities are and the flexibility of your time credits. It also includes samples of actual exchanges, though what is exchanged is only limited by the creativity and generosity of our members.
Click this link to begin the video. Introduction to Bennington County Time Exchange. Please stop the video after 14 minutes when the enrollment process is introduced as the homepage has changed.
Note: Disregard the banner on the opening frames, which refer to the organization as Hour for Our Community. We have restructured under a new name Bennington County Time Exchange.

H4O Pilot Project
Are You Interested in Adopting a College Student for the Fall Semester?

If so please let me know via e-mail [email protected] by Aug 31st that you are definitely interested for the fall semester, interested but not until next semester, not interested, or want more information.

On September 1st, Hour for Our Community will be on the Bennington College Campus inviting students to join the exchange. If there is interest in our membership, we would like to offer an additional Adopt- A_College Student program. This would be a special pilot project between local time exchange members and student member of the exchange. A local member would adopt a student member for a semester, giving them "a home away from home" experience. Though this would only be between members of the time exchange, the time spent together would not be considered exchanges.

The idea is for students to have a local "home" off campus where they would be periodically invited for supper, included in family events, participate with the member n local experiences etc. The level of involvement would be mutually agreed between the student and the local exchange member. For example, they might be included in family festivities, and might also do child care while you have a night out. You might connect with their parents and be a local tour guide when they visit, or chose to provide a personal B & B experience during their visit. You control the level of your involvement. The commitment would be for one semester with the option of continuing with the same student in subsequent semesters.

Before, piloting, it is important that we have enough members interested in participating to launch the pilot program.
