Bensenville Arts Council

The Bensenville Arts Council was formed in 1981 as the first intergovernmental arts agency in Illinois.

The Bensenville Arts Council, an intergovernmental agency, was founded in 1981 with the mission to provide a variety of arts experiences to residents of all ages which will enhance the quality of life for all participants. The original group consisted of Bensenville School District 2, the Bensenville Library, the Bensenville Park District, and the Village of Bensenville; Fenton High School joined

in 1999. The Arts Council, or BAC, initially organized to fill the gap created because there was no formal art instruction in the elementary schools. Since then however, its mission has expanded significantly to provide arts experiences for all ages in our community. The collaborative nature of the Bensenville Arts Council is such that while each taxing body might not be able to provide the depth of programs and services, by pooling financial and human resources, we not only avoid duplication, but can offer a wider range of opportunities in the arts.

Have you noticed the sculptures downtown? The Bensenville Arts Council has organized the installation of a few new artworks around Village Hall, along Dierking Way and Railroad Ave. Our Public Art Initiative aims to expand the scope of public arts & experiences for our community though events such as the Bensenville Short Film Festival and works of art such as these. We hope you find them a welcome addition to the village!
