We are saddened by the passing of Dolly Parton, whose love of books, children, and the power of imagination has touched so many lives.

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, her legacy continues right here in Bensenville. Our community has recently been added as a local partner of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, with sponsorship from Bensenville School District 2, the Addison Township Mental Health Board, and Bensenville Community Public Library.

The program began its initial launch in Bensenville this month as we put the finishing touches on the program and prepared everything for local families behind the scenes. We’re excited to officially celebrate this new chapter on Tuesday, September 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. here at the Bensenville Library.

Come celebrate with us with storytimes at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., food, take-home crafts, and assistance registering your child (from birth to age 5) for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

We’re grateful to begin this new chapter and help carry Dolly’s love of reading forward in our community. 💗📚🦋

Oh goodness! We had so much fun at our second annual event. We're thrilled that so many of you came to support our local artists and authors, play games, listen to storytimes, craft something amazing, eat and drink something delicious, get your face painted, and show up in full costume of your favorite character! Our "Plant a Seed, Read” Summer Reading program had come to an end earlier this month, and some of our lucky participants stopped by to claim their prizes! 🏆

Lucy won a Target gift card, Leo won a LEGO set, and Aliyah picked up her farm-themed goodies.

Congratulations to all of our winners, and thank you to everyone who made this summer of reading so much fun! We loved seeing so many kids and families participate.

As we celebrated America’s 250th anniversary in July, we asked Bensenville a simple question: What brings people together?

We have had a few displays and handouts at the library in July, and we also welcomed Jenny Riddle for two American history-related programs to celebrate America's 250th Anniversary.

We've had the pleasure of watching Jenny perform "Famous First Ladies: Mary Todd Lincoln, Eleanor Roosevelt & Jackie Kennedy" on July 2nd and were captivated by the stories of these incredible women, and Jenny's performance. On July 22nd, Jenny returned to present "Pets at the White House", where we learned about past presidents' pets and their humorous stories.
