US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for DuPage County, in effect until 5pm this evening. Strong to severe storms are possible today with damaging winds up to 60 mph, large hail, and heavy rainfall possible.

A Watch means conditions are favorable for severe weather to develop. Bensenville EMA will continue to monitor forecast updates throughout the day. Residents should plan accordingly during the afternoon and evening rush hour in the event storms impact travel conditions.

Bensenville EMA is actively monitoring a fast moving line of thunderstorms expected to move through the area late this morning into the early afternoon. Storms may bring damaging wind gusts capable of downing tree limbs, small hail, frequent lightning, and periods of heavy rain that could reduce visibility for drivers. In addition, strong non-thunderstorm wind gusts over 45 mph are possible after the storms pass into the early afternoon. We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.

***UPDATE: Road has reopened ***

Bensenville EMA is currently assisting in the area of Rt 83 and Third Ave. Southbound Route 83 is currently shut down at Oak Meadows Drive due to an ongoing crash investigation.

Traffic is being redirected in the area. Please avoid southbound Route 83 and seek alternate routes to prevent delays. Use caution and allow extra travel time.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 10:30pm tonight for parts of northern Illinois, including DuPage County. Tornado Watch #109 remains in effect until Midnight. While not all areas will experience severe weather, conditions remain favorable for the development of strong storms and possible tornadoes. Residents are encouraged to remain alert, have a reliable way to receive weather notifications, and be prepared to seek shelter immediately if warnings are issued. We are currently monitoring conditions and will provide updates as needed.

Current conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, large hail, heavy rain, and possible tornadoes. Residents are encouraged to monitor alerts and be prepared to seek shelter immediately if warnings are issued. Bensenville EMA will continue to monitor the storm and will provide updates as needed.

Bensenville EMA is currently monitoring a strong storm system expected to impact the area over the next 36 hours. Periods of storms, strong winds, and a sharp drop in temperatures are expected, with the potential for snow and hazardous travel conditions tonight into Monday. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and use caution while traveling.

Bensenville EMA is closely monitoring the storms expected to move through the area this evening. Our team will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates if necessary. Residents are encouraged to stay weather aware tonight.

Storms are starting to develop in Illinois. The expectation is for these to grow and become strong to even severe. The main risk north of the warm front (just south of I-80) is for damaging winds and hail. South of the boundary: all severe hazards are possible, including strong tornadoes.

An Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect from 3am to Noon Friday, followed by a Cold Weather Advisory from 12pm Friday to 9 AM Saturday for northern Illinois, including the Chicago area.

Wind chills are expected as low as -30 to -40 Friday morning. Limit time outdoors and dress in layers, Keep pets indoors, and Check on elderly neighbors, family, and friends

Coldest wind chills are expected across interior portions of northern Illinois. Please take this warning seriously and stay informed through local weather updates and emergency alerts.
