The US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DuPage County and portions of northeastern Illinois until 10:45am. A line of severe thunderstorms is moving east at approximately 50 mph.

We are actively monitoring the storms and weather conditions as they move through the area. Residents should have multiple ways to receive warnings and be prepared to move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor if conditions worsen or a Tornado Warning is issued.

Bensenville EMA is actively monitoring weather conditions throughout the area today. The US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for DuPage County and much of northern Illinois until 2pm.

Additionally a Tornado Warning was issued until 11:15am for portions of northeastern Kendall, northwestern Will, southeastern Kane, southern DuPage, and southwestern Cook counties. At 10:22am a severe squall line capable of producing tornadoes and extensive damaging straight-line winds was moving east at approximately 55 mph. Radar has indicated rotation.

Bensenville EMA will continue monitoring conditions and will share information regarding any watches, warnings, or other significant weather updates affecting Bensenville and the surrounding area.

We also want to recognize and thank the Village of Bensenville Police officers who serve our community every day and work hard to keep Bensenville safe.

US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois has issued a Tornado Warning for eastern DuPage County until 12:45pm. As of 11:58am, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Glen Ellyn, moving south at 30 mph. Radar has indicated rotation and the National Weather Service reports that this storm may have already produced a brief tornado over Glen Ellyn. Flying debris will be dangerous to anyone caught without shelter. Damage to roofs, windows, vehicles, and trees is possible.

For this reason, we have activated the outdoor warning sirens.

Bensenville EMA was out last night at the first concert of the Music in the Park series, helping ensure a safe and enjoyable evening for everyone in attendance.

Bensenville EMA was proud to assist with the annual Fourth of July Parade as we officially kicked off the celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary.

A special congratulations to our EMA Coordinator, Don Schultz, who had the honor of serving as this year’s Grand Marshal in recognition of 50 years of dedicated service to the Village of Bensenville.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our counterparts from Glendale Heights Emergency Services for assisting us throughout today’s event.

The US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois has issued a Tornado Warning for portions of DuPage and Cook Counties until 8:30pm. We have subsequently activated the outdoor warning sirens. A confirmed tornado was reported near Bartlett around 7:55pm and is moving east at approximately 35 mph.

Communities in the projected path include Bartlett, Streamwood, Hanover Park, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Elk Grove Village, Roselle, Bloomingdale, Itasca, Wood Dale, and Addison.

If you are within the warning area, take shelter immediately in a basement or the lowest level of a sturdy building, away from windows. Mobile homes and vehicles are not safe during a tornado. Flying debris can cause serious injury.

Bensenville EMA is actively monitoring the storm and will provide updates as they become available.

The US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois has issued a Tornado Watch for our area until 9pm. A Tornado Watch means weather conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, large hail, and damaging winds. While a tornado has not been spotted, residents should remain alert and be prepared to seek shelter if a warning is issued. Bensenville EMA will be monitoring conditions as they develop.

US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for our area, in effect until 10pm. Bensenville EMA will continue to monitor conditions throughout the evening. A Severe Thunder Watch means conditions remain favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms.

Today the Bensenville EMA team assisted the City of West Chicago Emergency Services during the public display of the Union Pacific Railroad’s Big Boy, the world's largest operating steam locomotive. Through mutual aid partnerships our communities can share resources and ensure the safety and success of large scale events.
