The Mescal Movie Set's popular Sunset Historical Film Tours area great way to visit the historical movie set, avoid the heat, and watch an incredible Arizona sunset!

The set has been used in over 150 film productions, including many of your favorite classic westerns. Guests taking a Sunset Tour will visit buildings and street locations where memorable scenes from Tombstone, Outlaw Josey Wales, The Quick and the Dead, and many more occurred.

Tour Schedule:
* Sat. June 27 Tours at 6:30 (SOLD OUT!) & 7:00
* Sat. July 11 Tours at 6:30 & 7:00
* Sat. Aug. 1 Tours at 6:00 & 6:30
* Sat. Aug. 15 Tours at 6:00 & 6:30
* Sat. Aug. 29 Tours at 5:30 & 6:00
* Sat. Sept. 12 Tours at 5:30 & 6:00
* Sat. Sept. 26 Tours at 5:30 & 6:00

The walking tour is a quarter mile long and lasts about one hour. The cost is only $20 per person, with children 17 and under free. All proceeds are used to renovate the set to attract future film productions. Please, no pets, smoking, or weapons on set.

Future dates are subject to change because of film production. The set has a busy film schedule in 2026 but remains committed to hosting historical film tours and special events between film productions.

Happy Birthday Kris Kristofferson -- June 22

The multi-talented musician and actor rode into Western film history alongside his fellow Highwaymen in the 1986 remake of Stagecoach. Starring with Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash. The film was shot right here in Southern Arizona, with the first 23 minutes filmed at the iconic Mescal Movie Set.

Happy Birthday to Thomas Haden Church -- June 17
And you, music lover . . .

In the movie "Tombstone," Thomas played the reckless Billy Clanton. In this unforgettable scene he confronts Doc Holiday (Val Kilmer)leading to the legendary line "I have two guns, one for each of you."

Church has also appeared in other Westerns beyond Tombstone, including Broken Trail alongside Robert Duvall and Horizon: An American Saga.

Happy Birthday Waylon Jennings -- June 15

In the 1986 TV movie Stagecoach, Waylon Jennings plays Hatfield, a professional gambler traveling by stagecoach to Lordsburg. As a “gentleman gambler” Waylon played Hatfield as an outwardly calm, polite, chivalrous with old-fashioned Southern charm. In this scene, Waylon discusses the start of his gambling ways with Lucy Mallory played by Mary Crosby.

The TV movie was a remake of the original John Wayne classic made it 1939. With Waylon were the rest of The Highwaymen including Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Kris Kristofferson.
