🌟School Board Member Opening🌟
Benson Public Schools Board of Education seeks applicants to fill the unexpired term of board member Gary Williams, who is formally resigning on June 30, 2026.

The newly appointed member will serve until December 31, 2026. If the appointed member desires to continue serving on the school board, he or she must file for the next general election.

👏Gary started the Benson Area Learning Center and worked as a teacher and AD for years. Gary has served on the school board since 2013. Thank you for your many years of dedicated service to Benson Schools! 🎉

Those interested in serving on the Benson Public School Board of Education should fill out an application found on Benson’s website: https://www.benson.k12.mn.us/, or you can pick up an application in the district office at Benson Public Schools, located at 1400 Montana Ave., Benson, MN 56215. Contact the district office for any questions: 320-843-2710.
Applications must be received by 4:00PM in the district office by July 1, 2026. The board will review all applications and decide on the replacement at the school board meeting on July 13, 2026.

Last night marked Superintendent Dennis Laumeyer’s final board meeting with Benson Public Schools.

The board recognized Mr. Laumeyer with a special gift, a lighted school logo, and we celebrated his 20 years of service to Benson Schools with cake and appreciation.

Thank you, Mr. Laumeyer, for your dedication, leadership, and commitment to our students, staff, families, and community over the past two decades. We are grateful for the impact you have made and wish you all the best in your next chapter.

State Tennis Sendoff!

Please join us in giving Alex Carlson and Harold Habben a great Benson sendoff as they head to the MSHSL State Tennis Tournament!

The sendoff will be held on Wednesday, June 3, at 2:45 p.m. in the Benson High School parking lot.

Let’s come together to cheer on Alex and Harold, celebrate this exciting accomplishment, and wish them the best as they represent Benson at State.

Free summer meals will be available for children ages 0–18 through Benson Public Schools!

Weekly meal pick up will take place on Tuesdays at Northside Elementary, with two pick up times available: 8:00–9:00 a.m. and 12:30–1:30 p.m. Meals will include breakfast and lunch options to take home for the week.

The first pick up will be June 2, and the program will run through August 18, 2026.

Benson Public Schools is proud to offer a unique opportunity to bid on a student-built home through our Trades Program.

This home will be constructed by talented Benson students as part of a hands-on learning experience that allows them to build real-world skills using industry-standard equipment and practices. The finished home will meet all Minnesota Building Codes and Standards and offers a meaningful opportunity to support career and technical education in our community.

Project Details:

Minimum bid: $92,000
Pre-approval letter required with bid
Buyer will collaborate on the final floor plan, up to 30' x 50'
Estimated completion: July 1, 2027

Planning ahead for summer? Benson Public Schools is here to help families with free weekly meal pick up for children ages 0–18.

This summer meal program includes free breakfast and lunch meals that can be taken home for the week. The program is open to all children, and families do not need to be enrolled in Benson Schools to participate.

Weekly Pick Up Details:
Tuesdays at Northside Elementary
1800 Nevada Avenue, Benson, MN
8:00–9:00 a.m. or 12:30–1:30 p.m.
June 2–August 18, 2026

Families must sign up so food service staff can plan for the number of meals needed and any special dietary requirements. No financial information is required.

Northside Elementary students had a great time at Field Day!

Students spent the day enjoying fun activities, friendly competition, teamwork, and plenty of time outside with classmates. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the school year and make lasting memories together.

First grade had a great end-of-the-year celebration at Ambush Park!

Students enjoyed spending time outdoors as they walked the trails, completed a scavenger hunt, and shared lunch together. It was a fun way to celebrate the school year, enjoy the beautiful park, and make a few more memories with classmates.
