Head over to http://Bensonfireraffle.com today to purchase tickets online via PayPal or Venmo. Once submitted, you will receive an email and/or text with your ticket(s).

🎟️ Tickets are $20 in person and $21 online (you do not have to be present during the drawing to win).

This morning for Toddler Story Time it was all about birds! The kids enjoyed a few stories before making their very own craft bird to take home! Check it out and stay tuned for the library's September schedule! As always, there is some awesome stuff planned for next month!

EMERGENCY BOC MEETING NOTICE (8-26-26):

The Town of Benson Board of Commissioners have called an emergency meeting for tonight, August 26, 2026, at 7pm in the Commissioners Meeting Chamber located within the Conference Center, Benson Town Hall, 303 E. Church Street, Benson, NC 27504.

▶️ The purpose of the meeting is to consider the following item:
Consideration of Adoption of a Resolution Appointing an Interim Finance Officer pursuant to NCGS 159-24.

This meeting will be live-streamed on the Town’s YouTube channel (link below) for all to view.

T-Mobile is currently installing its fiber internet network in Benson. You may have already seen a LUMOS vehicle in your area as they will be working throughout town in the coming weeks.

REMINDER:
The application window to fill the open seat on the Benson Board of Commissioners will close on Monday (8-31-26).

To qualify, applicants must be 18 or older, a registered voter, and a resident of the Town of Benson. The application deadline is Monday, August 31, 2026 at 5pm. Interviews will be scheduled for the Board of Commissioners work session on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 7pm.

It's become a Benson Police Department tradition to welcome students back to class after summer break.

Officers were at Benson Elementary and Benson Middle School this morning (8-24-26) on their first day back to hand out small gift bags of school supplies.

“We enjoy seeing their excitement and the smiles on their faces, as these students begin a new school year,” said Chief Greg Percy.

“Our officers being there is a small thing, but we want to help make the first day more memorable and celebrate their return to the classroom.”
