🚒🔥 FIRE SAFETY DAY! 🔥🚒

Today, the Gibson Township Fire Department had the honor of being invited by the Standish Area Fire Authority to join them at Sterling Elementary school for a fun and educational day teaching the kids about fire safety! 👨‍🚒🚨

We had an amazing time interacting with the students, answering their questions, and sharing important fire safety tips that could one day save a life!

As firefighters, our job goes beyond responding to emergencies. It’s also about educating our youth, building relationships, and making a positive difference in our communities. ❤️

A huge THANK YOU to the Standish Area Fire Authority for inviting us to be part of this wonderful event! We always enjoy working alongside our neighboring departments, especially when it comes to teaching the next generation about fire prevention and safety.

We also want to thank the school, teachers, and students for welcoming us and making today such a great experience!

🚒🔥 Who knows? We may have met a few future firefighters today!

Working together, educating our youth, and keeping our communities safe! ❤️🚒

🚒🖤 A FINAL SALUTE TO A BROTHER IN THE FIRE SERVICE 🖤🚒

Today, the Gibson Township Fire Department, along with Standish Area Fire Authority Augres Fire Department Arenac County 911 Arenac County Sheriff's Department and Alger Area Firefighters Station # 15 had the distinct honor and privilege of helping give Retired Fire Chief Randy Edward Gates one final send-off.

Randy wasn’t just a firefighter or a fire chief. He was a husband, father, friend, leader, and a dedicated public servant who spent much of his life giving back to the community he loved.

Randy served as Fire Chief of the Twining, Mason, Turner Fire Department, dedicating his time, leadership, and commitment to protecting the lives and property of others. He understood what it meant to answer the call, serve his neighbors, and put others before himself.

In the fire service, we often say that we are more than just coworkers. We are a brotherhood, a family. And when we lose one of our own, that loss is felt throughout the entire fire service community.

Today, as we paid our final respects, we were reminded that the legacy of a fire chief is not measured by the number of calls answered or the years served, but by the lives touched, the people protected, and the example left behind for the next generation.

To Randy’s wife Nadine, his family, friends, and our brothers and sisters at the Twining Mason Turner Fire Department please know that the Gibson Township Fire Department stands beside you during this difficult time.

Chief Gates, your final call has come. Your years of service, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

You have served your community well, Chief. Now it is time to lay down your gear, hang up your helmet, and rest.

Randy, we have it from here. We’ll take the watch from here. 🚒

Rest easy, Chief. May you rest in eternal peace.

Randy Edward Gates
