๐ŸŽ‰ Celebrating 100 Years of History in Bauxite! ๐ŸŽ‰

At Monday night's Saline County Quorum Court meeting, County Judge Matt Brumley, Myka Bono Sample Saline County Circuit Clerk , and Justice of the Peace Clint Chism presented a proclamation recognizing the Bauxite Historical Museum and Community Center on its 100th anniversary.

Originally constructed by ALCOA and dedicated in 1926, the Bauxite Community Center has served as a gathering place for generations of residents while preserving the rich history of Bauxite and its important role in Arkansas history.

For a century, the museum and community center have helped tell the story of the people, industries, and traditions that helped shape our community. We are proud to join in celebrating this remarkable milestone and the volunteers and supporters who continue to preserve Bauxite's history for future generations.

Congratulations on 100 years, and here's to many more!

โš ๏ธ Saline County Storm Update
๐Ÿ“… June 22, 2026 | 1:20 p.m.

We are pleased to report that power restoration efforts have made significant progress throughout the day. There are now fewer than 1,700 customers without power across Saline County.

Additionally, Saline County Road Department crews have successfully reopened all county roads that were impacted by this morningโ€™s storms. While all roads are now passable, crews will continue working today and throughout the remainder of the week to remove fallen trees and clean up storm debris.

We appreciate everyoneโ€™s patience as recovery efforts continue.

๐Ÿšง Please use caution when approaching utility crews, road department personnel, and other emergency workers. Slow down, stay alert, and give crews plenty of space to safely perform their work.

Thank you to our road crews, utility workers, first responders, city street departments, and ARDOT personnel for their hard work and dedication throughout todayโ€™s storm response.

๐Ÿ“… June 22, 2026 | 11:00 a.m.

Saline County Road Department crews continue making significant progress clearing storm debris and reopening roadways across the county. The photos below were taken this morning as crews worked along Brazil Road and Mountain View Road removing fallen trees and restoring access for residents.

While most major routes are now passable, cleanup efforts are far from over. Our road crews will remain deployed throughout the day and will likely continue debris removal operations throughout much of this week.

Approximately 6,000 residents across Saline County remain without power as utility crews work to restore service.

โšก As you travel today, please remain alert for work crews, storm debris, and downed power lines. If you encounter a downed power line, DO NOT drive over it. Always assume the line is energized and dangerous.

Thank you to our Saline County Road Department, city street departments, utility crews, first responders, and ARDOT personnel who have been working since the early morning hours to help keep our communities safe and connected.

We will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.

๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ A major milestone for Saline County and the Southwest Trail!

This morning, Saline County officials, project partners, elected leaders, and community members gathered to celebrate the completion of Segment S8A, the first completed section of the Southwest Trail in Saline County.

This approximately 2.5-mile segment stretches from the Pulaski County Government line to Germania Road and connects directly with Pulaski County's existing trail system, creating more than 6 miles of continuous trail between our two counties.

While today's ribbon cutting celebrates a completed trail segment, it also represents years of planning, partnership, engineering, and construction. The Southwest Trail will ultimately span more than 65 miles across Pulaski, Saline, and Garland counties, connecting Little Rock and Hot Springs while providing new opportunities for recreation, transportation, tourism, and quality of life throughout Central Arkansas.

Saline County is proud to be home to approximately 26.1 miles of the future trail systemโ€”the largest portion of the entire project.

A special thank you to the many individuals and organizations who helped make this milestone possible, including Metroplan, Arkansas Department of Transportation, USDOT, Garver, Volkert, James A. Rogers Excavating, our neighboring cities and counties, and the countless others who have worked behind the scenes over the years to move this project forward.

The work continues, but today was a day worth celebrating.

One year ago, this was little more than a cleared path through the woods.

Tomorrow morning, we'll celebrate the completion of Segment S8A โ€” the first completed section of the Southwest Trail in Saline County. This approximately 2.5-mile segment connects directly to Pulaski County Government's existing trail system, creating more than 6 miles of continuous trail between our two counties.

The photos below show the progress made over the past year as this project transformed from vision to reality. What began as years of planning, engineering, and partnership has now become a trail that residents can walk, run, and bike for years to come.

We invite you to join us tomorrow as we celebrate this important milestone for Saline County and the future of the Southwest Trail.
