Tomorrow evening, our community will gather on the Saline County Courthouse lawn for a special time of remembrance, support, and hope.

First responders dedicate their lives to being there for us on some of our hardest days. On First Responder Su***de Prevention Day, we invite Saline County to come together as we honor the first responders we’ve lost, stand beside those who are still here, and remind those who serve that they do not have to carry the weight alone.

What a night for Saline County!

From the pregame festivities and halftime performances to an incredible game and the postgame celebrations, we captured more than 80 of our favorite moments from last night’s Salt Bowl between Benton Public Schools and Bryant Public Schools!

A big thank you to the Bryant Hornet Athletics for hosting this year’s Salt Bowl and helping make “Stars, Stripes and Friday Night Lights” a great celebration as we commemorate America’s 250th birthday. 🇺🇸

And once again, congratulations to the Benton Panthers Athletics on a well-deserved 43-42 victory! 🐾🏆

No matter which side of the county you were cheering for, last night was a great reminder of the school spirit, community pride and traditions that make Saline County such a special place to call home.

🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

The Saline County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of scam phone calls currently being made to residents of Saline County.
Callers are claiming that a “Deputy Robert Plyer” with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to contact the person receiving the call. The caller states they are with the Civil Department and have “court-ordered litigation paperwork” that needs to be delivered.

The scammers are providing the following callback number:

Please do not provide the caller with any personal, financial, or identifying information.

The Saline County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call you and demand or request money over the phone.

Scammers often use official-sounding names, departments, court documents, warrants, or other legal terminology in an attempt to make the call sound legitimate and pressure you into responding.
If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, hang up and contact our office directly using an official phone number.

Please share this information with your family, friends, and especially those who may be more vulnerable to these types of scams.

⚠️ SALINE COUNTY BURN BAN REMAINS IN EFFECT ⚠️

Saline County’s countywide burn ban will remain in effect until further notice.

We are constantly evaluating and reevaluating conditions across Saline County to determine when it will be safe to lift the burn ban. This includes ongoing communication with the Saline County Office of Emergency Management, National Weather Service, our Volunteer Fire Departments, and other local partners.

We are also closely monitoring the U.S. Drought Monitor, current fire conditions, recent rainfall, and the extended weather forecast.

After taking all of these factors into consideration, the decision has been made to KEEP THE BURN BAN IN PLACE at this time.

This decision is made with the safety of our residents and first responders in mind. Even with recent rainfall in portions of the county, dry conditions and the potential for fire remain a concern.

While the burn ban remains in effect:

• DO NOT burn leaves, brush, debris, or other materials
• Never leave grills or other open flames unattended
• Properly dispose of ci******es
• Avoid parking vehicles on dry grass
• Be alert for smoke or signs of fire
• Report fires or burning activity immediately to the appropriate authorities

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as we continue to evaluate conditions daily.

Statement from Saline County Judge Matt Brumley Regarding Lawsuit Settlement:

"The people of Saline County elected me to make tough decisions, take responsibility for those decisions, and look out for their interests. That includes protecting taxpayer dollars and ensuring appropriate oversight of county departments including the Saline County Library. The Quorum Court passed legislation to ensure the county judge has oversight of the library and is ultimately accountable to the people of Saline County.

After taking into account the actions that have taken place over the last couple of years, the advice of legal counsel, and ultimately the dollars and cents involved in continuing this litigation, I have reached an agreement in principle to settle a lawsuit filed by the former library director arising from her termination. The County disagrees with the allegations in the lawsuit and was prepared to go to trial.

I ultimately determined the responsible decision is to resolve this matter rather than spend years in a costly legal battle at the expense of the taxpayers. Under the proposed agreement, no funds will be paid from Saline County taxpayer dollars. The Association of Arkansas Counties Risk Management Fund will pay $275,000 to the former library director and her attorneys, and the lawsuit will be dismissed.

I am confident in the continued success of our Saline County Library while maintaining the highest level of stewardship and accountability to those we serve.”-Saline County Judge Matt Brumley

Crews continue working across Saline County tonight following this evening’s severe storms.

⚡ POWER OUTAGES

There are currently 5,879 residents without power across Saline County:

• Entergy: 4,495
• First Electric: 1,300
• Benton Utilities: 84
• TOTAL: 5,879

🚧 ROADS REPORTED IMPASSABLE

The following roads are currently reported impassable due to storm damage and/or flooding:

• Germania Rd. (portion)
• Childress Rd. & Oliver Heights Rd.
• Springlake Rd.
• Hwy. 111 (Near Alexander PD)
• Hot Springs Hwy. 5 (Near Nickel Bill James Rd.)

County road crews, first responders and utility crews are continuing to work throughout the county. Please give them plenty of room and avoid these areas if possible.

⚠️ Do not drive through flooded roadways or approach downed power lines. Always assume a downed power line is energized.

Please use caution if you must be on the roads tonight. We will continue to provide updates as conditions change.

🚧 Around 10 roads have been reported IMPASSABLE due to downed trees, downed power lines and flash flooding.

⚡ More than 7,200 residents are currently without power across Saline County:

County road crews, first responders and utility crews are actively working throughout Saline County. Please give crews plenty of room to work and DO NOT attempt to drive through flooded roadways or around barricades.

Salt Bowl Week continued today with the annual First Security Bank Luncheon and Coaches/Players Press Conference at the Saline County Career Technical Campus! 🏈🇺🇸

Coaches and players from the Benton Panthers Athletics and Bryant Hornet Athletics came together ahead of Friday night’s big game to talk about their teams, the rivalry and what the Salt Bowl means to our community.

A big thank you to First Security Bank for continuing to support this great Saline County tradition and bringing our communities together during Salt Bowl Week!

It’s officially Salt Bowl WEEK in Saline County! 🏈🇺🇸

This year’s theme, “Stars, Stripes and Friday Night Lights,” is especially fitting as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday! Last night, fans on both sides kicked off the week with Community Pep Rallies — Benton Public Schools at Everett INFINITI of Central Arkansas and Bryant Public Schools at Everett Buick GMC.

And we’re just getting started!
