To all of the Moms, you will always be the ones who first gave us the foundation to believe in ourselves that we could be anything that we wanted to be, that we could achieve anything that we set our minds to, and that to truly lead means that we must serve. Thank you, Moms for teaching us what it means to love, to give, and to sacrifice.

Congratulations to Chief Jackson! We wish you all the best!

We would like to shout out a big congratulations to our new Fire Chief Shawn Jackson. Chief Jackson has been with the Fire Department for the past 10 years and dedicates every day to helping the community and the citizens of Scott City. He is a certified EMT and has performed multiple roles within the department beginning with fire fighter, engineer, deputy chief and now Chief of the Department.

Shawn is married to his wife Rochelle whom is also a member of the Scott City Fire Department as the Public Relations coordinator and a First Responder. He has an energetic son, Korbin (age 4) who is following in his fathers footsteps and is striving to be just like him.

Shawn is very dedicated to the Fire Department and strives every day to make himself and the department better. With him, is a strong supportive group of volunteer fire fighters that he calls family and whom have helped him become who he is today. Chief Jackson looks forward to the future of the Scott City Fire Department and will continue to make it a priority to serve and protect the community!

Our hearts are once again saddened at the loss of a fellow firefighter. Please keep the family of Jaret Farmer in your thoughts and prayers as well as the entire Miner Fire Department and community.

It is with a very heavy sadden heart that we are sharing that we have lost one of our our brothers this morning. Sergeant Farmer has served our community for several years and was an amazing person. Anyone that knew him knows his love and passion for the Fire Service he had a heart as big as he was for it. The city's flags have been lowered to honor him. We all know that he is watching over us and will continue to keep us safe. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
