The Marshall County Republican Committee is holding a forum for candidates for county offices seeking the party's nomination in the May 19th, 2026 primary election. Committee chairperson Dwayne Stice said, "A forum was held in 2022 for the primary candidates and was well received. There was a large crowd and the public appreciated hearing from each person what they hoped to accomplish in office." Invitations have been accepted by all who have filed:
Coroner: Meagan O'Bryan and Kenny Pratt
Commissioner (First District): Eddie McGuire and J D Morehead
Commissioner (Second District): Marty Barrett and Danny Cope
Jailer: Patti Burton, Brian Cannon, Barry Howell, and Robert Johnson
Sheriff: Matt Hilbrecht and Doug Jordan
Also invited are candidates who are unopposed in the May primary including: Jason Darnall, County Attorney, Monti Collins, Commissioner (Third District), Chrissy Greer, County Court Clerk, and Kevin Spraggs, Judge/Executive.
Each candidate will be given five minutes to speak and written questions from the audience will be fielded by the candidates.
Stice added, "we have attempted to maintain transparency and this event will assist voters in casting their ballots. Local elections are very important because these offices have the most affect on an individual's life."
The forum will begin at 6:00 p.m. Monday, March 9th, 2026 in the Community Room of the Marshall County Public Library, 1150 Birch Street, Benton,
