The region was placed under multiple Tornado Warnings this evening as severe thunderstorms moved through the region. At this time, there have been no reports of major damage or injuries within Franklin County.

The Franklin County Office of Emergency Management & Communications (OEMC) actively monitored the situation and deployed resources to support response operations. OEMC Field Operations personnel were activated and positioned to assess storm impacts and coordinate response efforts as needed. The OEMC Special Operations K-9 Search and Rescue Team was deployed in support of the tornado incident in Jefferson County; however, the team was cancelled while en route after it was determined their assistance was no longer required.

Throughout the event, OEMC coordinated closely with emergency management agencies in Jefferson, Perry, and Hamilton Counties regarding tornado reports and response activities. The OEMC Communications Center experienced a significant increase in calls for service from residents seeking information and reporting storm-related concerns. Communications personnel maintained situational awareness, disseminated information & calls for service to public safety agencies, and activated local emergency warning systems as warnings were issued by the National Weather Service.

OEMC will continue to monitor regional activities and work with local, county, and regional partners to assess any impacts and support response and recovery operations as necessary.

A special thank you to our OEMC staff for their dedication and commitment to public safety. We greatly appreciate you all!
