With nearly four decades in EMS, David Chreene brings a level of experience that cannot be taught, only earned. Having served for two and a half years as Pafford’s Operations Manager over Garland and Saline Counties in Arkansas, as well as VA services, he carries a steady perspective shaped by years on the front lines and a clear understanding of what this work truly means. For him, EMS was never just a career choice, but a calling sparked early on by witnessing the real difference a calm, capable responder can make in someone’s worst moment.

That mindset still drives how he leads today. David believes the future of EMS is built through mentorship, investing time and trust into the next generation of EMTs and paramedics. His philosophy is simple and lived out daily. Take care of your people, and they will take care of the mission. His leadership style reflects that belief. He leads from the front and never asks more of others than he is willing to give himself.

His region presents a unique blend of challenges and opportunities. Covering both metro and rural areas, his teams navigate high call volumes and extended transport times while serving communities that range from tourist destinations and lake areas to quiet bedroom towns. For David, one of the most rewarding parts of the role is building those connections with city and county leaders and maintaining open, honest communication.

Beyond the lights and sirens, David is quick to remind others what EMS is really about. It is people caring for people. Behind every call is a professional showing up with quiet strength, compassion, and a commitment to do the job right. His guiding motto, “Perfection is our goal. Excellence will be tolerated,” reflects the high standard he expects from himself and his team.

As Pafford continues to grow, what excites David most is the opportunity ahead. Not just for the organization, but for the individuals within it. Growth, to him, means creating space for others to step up, improve, and carry the mission forward.
