Shaw Volunteer Fire Department Shaw Volunteer Fire Dept, led by Chief Jody Caple, serves the Shaw community with fire & rescue response. Volunteers welcome! Volunteers are welcome!

Trainings every Thursday at 7 PM, Station 1, 5513 Hwy 35. Shaw Volunteer Fire Department, led by Chief Jody Caple, serves the Shaw community with 21 trained members, 4 officers, and 3 EMTs. We operate from 2 stations with an ISO rating of 4. Trainings are Thursdays at 7 PM at Station 1.

This is monthly review of calls for service during the month of May.

During May, your Shaw Firefighters responded to a total of 19 calls for service. The breakdown is as follows:

Medical Calls: 14
Grass Fire: 1
Fire Alarm: 1
Public Assistance: 1
Standby Assignment: 1
Mutual Aid Medic Call: 1

We are thankful for our dedicated volunteers who continue to answer the call and serve our community. Their commitment and willingness to help others make a difference every day.

We are also grateful for the continued support of our community. Because of your support, we are able to provide these essential services and remain ready when needed.

Last month your Shaw Volunteer Fire Department members said busy. With our weekly trainings as well as having our annual Fish Fry day we still answered 17 calls for service.

Here is the breakdown of calls for the month of April :

EMS: 7
Trash/Rubbish Fire: 2
Woods Fire: 2
Service Call: 1
Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA):3
Fire Alarms:1
Standby:1

Total Calls: 17

Our total calls for the month was 20. Three of our calls were handled by mutual aid and we are grateful for their help.

We are very grateful for our community support and our dedicated volunteers.

Shaw VFD is in need of a few items. We are needing 2 water hose carts, 2 wash brushes, water hose nozzles, and a 16gal wet/dry shop vac. We use these to keep contaminants washed of our hoses, equipment, and trucks. Shop vac will be to help us keep dirt and contaminants often found on all fires out of the cabs of our trucks.
