📢 UPCOMING BENTONVILLE CITY COUNCIL MEETING!

Staying engaged in local decisions is one of the best ways to keep our community strong! The Bentonville City Council will meet on Tuesday, August 25th at 6:00 PM at City Hall.

The evening begins with the Committee of the Whole (an informational discussion session), followed immediately by the regular City Council meeting where public comments are heard and official votes are taken.

đź“‹ FULL AGENDA RECAP & KEY TOPICS

🔊 Major Vote: City Noise Ordinance Modifications
The Council will vote on proposed amendments specifically to Bentonville Municipal Code Article 58-V (Noise). Following earlier Committee of the Whole discussions regarding resident concerns and outdoor sound, staff has recommended several targeted updates:

• Outdoor Amplified Sound Shut-Off Times: Establishing hard cut-offs for outdoor sound amplification (10:00 PM daily in residential districts; 10:30 PM Sun–Thu and 11:30 PM Fri–Sat in commercial/industrial districts).
• Decibel Level Reductions: Adjusting commercial and industrial lower-decibel timeframes earlier (starting at 10:30 PM Sun–Thu and 11:30 PM Fri–Sat) and aligning zoning districts with the new Community Code.
• Clearer Measurement Standards: Clarifying that sound measurements are taken at the property line of the noise source and updating definitions for plain audibility, construction noise, and sound equipment.
• Simplified Construction Hours: Restricting construction noise after 7:00 PM in residential areas and after 9:00 PM in commercial/industrial areas.
• General Protections & Penalties: Adding prohibitions against unreasonably loud, disturbing noise that impacts health, updating permitting language, clarifying venue exemptions, and establishing clear penalty provisions.

🏗️ Capital Projects & Infrastructure
• Reviewing contract agreements, right-of-way planning, and engineering updates for ongoing municipal improvements and city facility coordination.

🌿 Planning & Development Services
• Reviewing local land use proposals, rezoning items, and street/utility easement vacation requests across the city.

🛡️ Administration & Operational Agreements
• Considering departmental resolutions, budget adjustments, and administrative contract agreements to ensure city services continue running efficiently.

After much thought and prayer, I have decided to seek another term representing the people of Bentonville. I officially filed today (day 1 of the week-long filing period.) The election will be in November, and I would appreciate your support!

The press release is attached below:

Bentonville City Council Member Aubrey Patterson has filed for re-election, seeking another term on the Bentonville City Council. Patterson is asking voters for the opportunity to continue providing experienced, fiscally responsible leadership as Bentonville manages continued growth while preserving the quality of life that makes the city so special.

Patterson has lived in Bentonville with her husband, Aaron, for 24 years. Their four children attended Bentonville Public Schools, and the family has been actively involved in the community and their church. Patterson has served on the Bentonville City Council since March 2018. During her tenure, she has served on the Airport Advisory Board, the Traffic, Signage, and Safety Committee, and the Advertising and Promotion Commission.

Patterson holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Central Arkansas and a Master of Arts in Teaching, also from UCA. She is a former high school teacher and currently owns and operates a local retail store in Bentonville.

Patterson said her priorities for another term include maintaining responsible financial management, investing in critical infrastructure, supporting public safety, preserving Bentonville's exceptional quality of life, and ensuring the city continues to grow in a way that reflects the values of its residents.
"Bentonville's success didn't happen by accident," Patterson said. "It has taken thoughtful leadership, long-term planning, and a commitment to serving the public with integrity. I will continue listening to residents, making informed decisions, and working collaboratively to ensure Bentonville remains one of the best cities in America to live, work, and raise a family."
