Today, Chief Taylor had the honor of attending the swearing-in ceremony of Brody Holt as he officially began his career with the Wheeling Fire Department.

We could not be more proud of him.

Over the years, we have had the privilege of watching Brody grow not only as a firefighter, but as a person. His passion for the fire service and willingness to learn have made him an invaluable part of our fire family.

We are incredibly excited to watch him take this next step in his career. We know he will continue to do great things and serve the citizens of Wheeling with the same professionalism, compassion, and determination he has always shown here.

Congratulations, Brody. Your Benwood Fire Department family is proud of you, and we wish you nothing but success in this next chapter.

Be safe. 🚒❤️

This afternoon, the Benwood Fire Department was dispatched to a working structure fire involving two structures in Bellaire, Ohio.

Engine 1301 responded with a crew of five and assisted with the interior fire attack and overhaul operations.

We would like to commend all of the departments that responded for their professionalism and teamwork in overcoming a challenging water supply situation that ultimately required activation of the tanker task force. Incidents like today’s serve as a reminder that successful outcomes are built on strong interagency cooperation, communication, and a shared commitment to serving our communities.

Tonight, your Benwood Fire Department is staffed with seven members ready to answer the call for our community.

Chief 1310 is in Command 1307, with three members staffing Ladder 1304 and three members staffing Engine 1301. Depending on the nature of the call, crews may transition to any apparatus needed to best serve our residents.

Staffed houses save lives. Having crews in station and ready to respond means faster response times when our community needs us most.

This level of coverage is only possible because of the continued dedication of our members.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

In a small community like ours, Memorial Day carries a special meaning. The names etched on monuments, displayed on memorials, and spoken during ceremonies are more than just history - they are our neighbors, our friends, our family members, and our hometown heroes.

We are proud to come from a community that has answered the call to serve generation after generation. We are equally proud to remember those who never had the opportunity to return home, whose sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy each day. Their courage lives on in the freedoms we enjoy, and their legacy lives on in the communities they helped protect.

From all of us at the Benwood Fire Department, we honor the fallen, we support their families, and we thank them for a debt that can never truly be repaid.

May we never forget that freedom is not free. 🇺🇸

After a history-making 326-day deployment, the Benwood Fire Department would like to welcome home the USS Gerald R. Ford and most importantly, our very own firefighter, MM2 Thomas Norcott. 🇺🇸⚓️🔥

Serving your country for nearly a year away from home is a sacrifice few truly understand, and we could not be more proud to call you one of our own.

During a record setting deployment, Thomas represented not only our department, but our entire community with honor, dedication, and commitment. He was also recognized as Sailor of the Quarter, an achievement that speaks volumes about his work ethic, professionalism, and character.

Thank you for your service to our country and for continuing to embody what it means to serve something greater than yourself.

Welcome home, Thomas. We missed you. ❤️
