📢 Go Paperless with Your Utility Bill! 📢

We’re excited to now offer **Paperless Billing** for our customers! 🌿💻

Signing up is quick and easy and gives you a convenient way to:
✔ Receive your bill faster
✔ Reduce paper clutter
✔ Access your statements anytime online

To sign up for Paperless Billing, simply visit our online payment portal at https://bereautilities.merchanttransact.com/Login and log into your account. If you have not registered yet, click “Sign Up” to create an account.

Once logged in:

• Click on “My Profile”
• Select “EDIT” on your account
• Under “Paper Bill,” choose whether you would still like to receive a paper bill by mail

* If you only want to receive your bill electronically, select:
“No, do not print and send my bill using the postal service.”
• Under “Electronic Bill,” select:
“Yes, send an electronic copy of my billing statement via email when the bill is ready.”

Be sure to save your selections. Once completed, you will begin receiving your bill by email.

We have also attached a screenshot showing how your settings should appear if you choose electronic-only billing.

Berea Municipal Utilities has received reports from customers about scam phone calls.
Some customers are being contacted by individuals claiming to be with BMU, stating that payment has not been received and requesting payment information over the phone to avoid disconnection.

⚠️ THIS IS A SCAM.

Berea Municipal Utilities will NEVER call you and ask for your credit card, debit card, or banking information over the phone.
If you receive one of these calls:
• Do NOT provide any personal or payment information
• Hang up immediately
• Contact BMU directly using our official phone number (859-986-4391) to verify your account status.

Exciting News from Berea Municipal Utilities
We’re rolling out a new Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project for electric and water meters within our service area!

What does this mean for you?
✅ More tools for you to monitor your water and energy usage
✅ Faster detection of outages and leaks
✅ Improved customer service and reliability

Electric meter installations will begin soon and proceed in phases throughout our service area. Water meter changeouts will soon follow. Our crews and authorized contractors will be in clearly marked vehicles.

No one needs to be home for the meter upgrade. However, we will knock on each door to make you aware when the meters are changed.

There is no cost to customers for this upgrade.

We’ll be sharing weekly updates along the way detailing when work is happening in your area. Thanks for your patience as we invest in smarter, more reliable service for our community!

BMU is closely monitoring the accumulating ice. At this point, we have avoided any power outages. We have a few more hours to go to be completely out of danger. Our crews are standing by and and ready if we begin to see damage.

Please report any outages to our outage hotline (859) 986-4391 or (859) 986-8483. Please stay away from any downed powerlines. We will update if conditions worsen.

UPDATE: Power should be restored to all BMU electric customers. Thank you for your patience while our staff located the issue and made the necessary repairs.

POWER OUTAGE: We are aware of an outage impacting a large number of our electric customers. BMU personnel are investigating the issue, and we will make every effort to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

Our crews are on-site now, and we anticipate all power being restored by 1:00 pm.
