Hundreds More Turn to Berea Food Bank

This month we're on track to serve over 800 Bereans who don't have enough to eat--a 45% increase this year. And the heartbreaking truth is that the biggest surge in need is among children. Berea Food Bank's 40 volunteers are committed to providing them a week's worth of healthy, nutritious groceries. And we need your help.

Please consider making a donation or host a fundraiser among your friends and workmates--every $21 donated provides 21 meals for a hungry child.

The Return of a Legend--We proudly welcome back Carol Swanson Poston, former Coordinator of Berea Food Bank and long-time supporter of our mission, who joined our Delivery Day Crew this week to help stock-in our largest order of the year!

"I'd like to do more", Carol commented after the final pallet of the 6000 pound order was stowed away--we're delighted to welcome her to regular volunteer work on our Client Service Crew, too!

Her insights and experience will surely help us get better and better at delivering superb client service to Bereans in need.

Help me thank Mary Moss Kniskern and James C. Kniskern pictured here delivering proceeds from their 4th Annual Kniskern Knoll Garlic Fundraiser!

Resolute friends of Berea Food Bank for many years, Mary is a former board member and James leads our Delivery Day Crew. Their donation from the sale of garlic grown on their small regenerative farm will be used to help make sure Hunger finds no Home in Berea this Winter!

Berea Financial Institution Helps Berea Food Bank in the Fight Against Hunger

Our friends at Park Community Credit Union joined us for both Delivery Days this month!

Tracy, Amy, Allen, and Cash showed up and showed out--putting skin and sweat in the game! Together with our regular Crew they stocked in nearly 10 tons of good food to help Bereans in need.

Park Corporate makes a donation to the food bank to go with their work, too! Generous friends like the staff at Berea's own Park Community Credit Union are strong allies in the fight against hunger--and they'll be back next month, too!

We're so grateful for their help.

Five years ago today dozens of students, scouts, and food bank volunteers rallied to distribute 1,200 food boxes in a school parking lot. One carload at a time.

They were desperate times and the economy had fallen off a cliff for working Bereans. I knew we had to find a way to respond to the huge surge in need and called on Berea to help. Our community came together to distribute every box in less than 3 hours. Such was the need in July 2021.

A lot has changed since then and the challenges many face to keep food on the table are different. But one thing hasn't changed--our unwavering commitment to make sure Hunger Finds No Home in Berea. -Tony Crachiolo
