On 07/03/2026 at approximately 2125 hours, the Beresford Police Department responded to a report of disorderly conduct at the city park. Upon arrival, one of the suspects were leaving in a vehicle. Contact was made with the male driver and indicators of drug use and impairment were observed. The driver submitted to field sobriety tests and was subsequently placed under arrest. During the vehicle search, ma*****na, drug paraphernalia, a v**e, alcohol and paraphernalia were seized. The 16-year-old Hudson, South Dakota male was transported to the Vermillion Hospital for a blood draw and released to his mother. His charges are DUI 1st offense, possession of ma*****na, possession of to***co, underage possession of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On 07/05/2026 at approximately 0050 hours, the Beresford Police Department stopped a vehicle for a moving violation. While running the driver’s information, Officer’s learned that the driver had an active warrant out of Woodbury County. The driver was placed under arrest without incident. The 44-year-old Miami, FL resident was transported to the Minnehaha County jail in Sioux Falls, where he was lodged for Fugitive from justice.
On 07/05/2026 at approximately 1449 hours, the Beresford Police Department responded to a local business for a report of a vehicle purposely ramming another vehicle. The victim was able to get a license plate of the offender vehicle and relay it to the Officer. The Officer went to the suspect’s residence and located the vehicle, which was occupied and parked on the street. The Officer made contact with the suspect and informed her that she was under arrest. The female put the car in gear and took off from the Officer. The vehicle stopped a couple of blocks away and the female resisted being taken into custody. After a short struggle, the female was placed into custody without further incident. The 72-year-old Beresford, South Dakota female was transported to the Minnehaha County Jail in Sioux Falls, where she was lodged for Aggravated assault, eluding Law Enforcement, hit & run and resisting arrest.
On 07/11/2026 at approximately 2334 hours, the Beresford Police Department stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. While doing a license check, it was learned that the driver’s license status was revoked. The driver was taken into custody without incident. The 28-year-old Lennox, South Dakota male was transported to the Union County Jail in Elk Point, where he was lodged for driving under revocation.
On 07/12/2026 at approximately 0138 hours, the Beresford Police Department responded to a local residence for a domestic assault. During the investigation, it was learned that the intoxicated female party had punched her boyfriend several times causing injuries. The female offender was taken into custody without incident. The 25-year-old Beresford, South Dakota female was transported to the Union County Jail in Elk Point, where she was lodged for simple assault domestic.
On 07/16/2026 at approximately 1813 hours, the Beresford Police Department was sent to a local residence to take a driving complaint report. While the Officer was taking the report, the vehicle in question drove by the residence. The Officer stopped the car to address the issue with the driver. During interaction with the driver, indicators of drug use were observed. The driver was removed from the vehicle and a search was conducted. Drug related items and to***co products were seized. The 16 year old Hudson, South Dakota male was charged with Possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and underage possession of to***co. The juvenile male was released to a family member.
On 07/21/2026 at approximately 2349 hours, the Bersford Police Department stopped a moped for a moving violation. During interaction with the driver, indicators of drug impairment were observed. The driver submitted to field sobriety tests and was taken into custody without incident. During the search of the moped, several needles were found along with a bag of methamphetamine. The 48-year-old Sioux Falls, South Dakota male transported to the Union County Jail in Elk Point, where he was lodged for DUI 2nd offense, no driver’s license, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On 07/28/2026 at approximately 0821 hours, the Beresford Police Department responded to a local residence for a 911 call. The Officer met with the male, who was extremely intoxicated and wanted a ride to the store. The Officer educated the male about the emergency line and left the residence. A short time later, the male called 911 again and wouldn’t speak to the communications center. The Officer once again educated him on the misuse of 911 and left the area. After leaving the residence, the male called 911 two more time. Officers went back to the male’s residence and placed him under arrest for misuse of 911. While taking the male into custody, the male spit on one of the Officers. The 75-year-old Beresford male was transported to the Minnehaha County Jail in Sioux Falls, where he was lodged for misuse of 911 and assault by contact of bodily fluids.
On 07/30/2026 at approximately 1914 hours, the Beresford Police Department responded to a residence of an intoxicated male who was making 911 calls. The male was very confrontational with the communications center and was making inappropriate comments. The Officer arrived on scene and an emergency didn’t exist. The male was taken into custody without incident. The 75-year-old Beresford male was transported to the Minnehaha County Jail in Sioux Falls, where he was lodged for misuse of 911.
