Please join us in welcoming new Speech Pathologist Sandy Whiting. Mrs. Whiting can’t wait to support students in an uplifting and positive school community. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in English and a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Prior to coming to B-B, she worked in both the hospital and school settings. In these settings, she's worked with individuals from newborn to over 100 years old. She currently teaches a summer graduate course for students in the Speech Pathology program at Nazareth University.
Outside of work , Mrs. Whiting enjoys reading, writing, going for walks, and indulging in anything with peanut butter, chocolate, or a combination of both. Her family includes her husband, Sean, their seven- and ten-year-old children, two cats, and one gecko.

On September 1st, Elementary Principal Kristin Loftus and Jr./Sr. High School Principal Paul Hazard presented newly tenured staff with a gift of appreciation at the Opening Day staff assembly. To achieve tenure, a New York State teacher must complete a four year and one day probationary period, receive formal recommendation for tenure from their building principal and district superintendent, be voted on by the Board of Education, and maintain all necessary teaching certifications.

Congratulations to all newly tenured staff.

THANK YOU! B-B Elementary gratefully accepted the generous donations of snacks to refill the snack shelf on September 3rd. The Bergen Business and Civic Association coordinated a community-wide snack drive and delivered hundreds of snacks from collection points around the community and from Mustard Seed Food Pantry. Thank you for the extraordinary effort put in to help the Bees!

Please join us in welcoming 5th Grade Teacher Michael Fryar. Mr. Fryar has nine years of experience teaching 5th grade and, most recently, two years teaching STEAM. He earned his bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Western Carolina University.
“I am looking forward to teaching in a new state, meeting new students, and becoming a part of the Byron-Bergen family.”
Before finding his calling as a teacher, Mr. Fryar planned a career in the culinary arts, so it’s not surprising that outside of work he enjoys cooking. He also enjoys gardening, watching and playing soccer, listening to music, collecting records, traveling, and exploring new places. He lives with his wife, 15-month-old child, Isaac, and two dogs, Hank and Elmer.

On Byron-Bergen CSD's Opening Day for faculty and staff, the Board of Education resolved to recognize the extraordinary work done by food services staff during the Summer Meals Program. The six-week meal program ran from the second week of July to mid-August. During that time, the food service staff prepared and distributed over 16,000 meals to community children. The staff were acknowledged in front of Superintendent McGee, the school community, and members of the Board of Education.

Please join us in welcoming new UPK Teacher Liz Crans. Ms. Crans is looking forward to meeting her new students, families, and having a great year together. “Pre-K is where my heart is, and I truly love working with this age group.” Prior to coming to B-B, Ms. Crans taught Pre-K at Alexander Elementary for nine years. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education as well as her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Buffalo State.
Outside of work, Ms. Crans is a full-time parent with a senior, an 8th grader, and twin 3rd graders. She is heavily involved in youth football and cheer and spends a lot of her free time coaching and helping with youth programs.

Congratulations to the Class of 2027 on their epic effort in today's Staff Vs. Seniors Kickball Game. The staff were, once again, victorious but the seniors showed up with some amazing homeruns and unbelievable catches. Great game, Bees!
