Congratulations to all of the graduates of this year’s Bergenfield PD Youth Academy Class 10-26! Over the past week, you demonstrated teamwork, respect, perseverance, and a willingness to step outside your comfort zones. We hope the lessons, friendships, and memories you made will stay with you for years to come.

Special congratulations to this year’s award winners for their outstanding performance and leadership throughout the week.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of the officers, instructors, volunteers, community partners, and participating agencies whose time, dedication, and support made this week’s academy such a success. Your commitment to investing in our youth is truly appreciated and made a lasting impact on every participant.

Day 4 of the Youth Academy is complete and it was another busy day with some traveling by land and some by sea. Not only was today fun, but extremely educational for not only our cadets but our instructors as well. The day consisted of stops at Liberty State Park, the New Jersey 9/11 “Empty Sky” Memorial, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. What a day and what an experience! Borough of Bergenfield

Day 3 for the Youth Academy was another very busy day. We traveled to the Newark Police Department Police Academy as well as the Newark PD Traffic Unit. The cadets got to see the training facilities and visit the Motor Unit and the Mounted Unit and of course the stars of the show….the horses! Normally we don’t let the kids horse around, but today was the exception 😉😁. It wasn’t all fun and games, as the kids did get to work by feeding and even bathing the horses. Day 2 of our Youth Academy was jam packed, as we spent the day at the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute, where the cadets learned about the facilities and types of training that our Bergen County Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Department personnel conduct in order to graduate their respective academies. Cadets were able to see the various training buildings and equipment and received instruction from the Police and Fire Academy instructors. They also received a tour of the Bergen County Public Safety Operations Center, which houses the Bergen County Communications Center and Bergen County Office of Emergency Management. It was such a busy day that even the training dummies were exhausted! Let’s see what tomorrow brings…… Borough of Bergenfield

Our annual Youth Academy has begun! Day 1 is in the books. A visit from the New Jersey State Police Northstar helicopter, as well as classroom instruction from our Borough Nurses on Heath and Hygiene and our Juvenile Detectives on Cyberbullying and Internet Safety. Of course what would a Youth Academy be without alittle (or a lot) of Physical Training! Up next…..Day 2. Stay tuned. Borough of Bergenfield
