🌿✨ Member Spotlight: Warm Springs Herbal (Insideoutwholeness) ✨🌿

It’s August, which means the gardens are overflowing, the bugs are biting, the poison ivy is thriving, and most of us are walking past plants every day without having the slightest idea what they can do. Fortunately, Iris Kirsch of Warm Springs Herbal has spent years learning, growing, experimenting, teaching, and helping the rest of us figure it out! 😄

Warm Springs Herbal is a woman-owned herb farm and roadside apothecary right here in Morgan County, specializing in small-batch herbal tinctures and remedies made with plants grown and gathered with care. No pesticides. No synthetic fertilizers. Just a whole lot of plant knowledge, hard work, and probably a few outfits sacrificed along the way. Iris describes herself as a healer, educator, mother, adventurer, punk rocker, and herb farmer, which may be one of the best business introductions we’ve ever read.

And she doesn’t keep all that knowledge to herself. Iris teaches workshops, leads conversations, and has recently started sharing short videos introducing us to some of the plants growing all around us. She’s talking about plantain for hot, itchy skin and bug bites, elderflowers and elderberries, the “sunshine magic” of St. John’s Wort, and even Japanese Knotweed, the invasive plant people love to hate. Apparently even the weeds have a good publicist when Iris gets involved. 😉

Her workshops go beyond simply identifying plants, too. She talks about practical herbs for emergency kits, how to stay grounded when the world feels like a lot, and how to prepare for hard things without forgetting to enjoy the perfectly lovely things happening right in front of us. It’s useful, thoughtful, occasionally unexpected, and never boring.

Then take a drive to their roadside apothecary near Cacapon State Park and see what Iris has been creating. You may never look at the weeds beside your driveway quite the same way again. 🌱

💕 It's rare that the Berkeley Springs-Morgan Co Chamber of Commerce tells you to venture outside of Morgan County... but tonight, we're making an exception!

Just a few minutes down the road in Hancock, Maryland, our wonderful Chamber member at Flannel is hosting another one of their fabulous Girls Night on Main, and if you've never been, this is the perfect excuse to visit. I took my girlfriend (my mom 😉) to their last Girls Night, and we had such a wonderful evening! Great shopping, friendly faces, and a fun night out, all right around the corner.

If you haven't experienced Flannel before, it's one business with so many ways to enjoy it. Of course, you'll find beautiful clothing, jewelry, home décor, gifts, locally handcrafted treasures, and all kinds of unique finds you won't see anywhere else. But that's just the beginning. Flannel also offers creative workshops and DIY classes, a beautiful event venue for intimate gatherings, and fun community events throughout the year. It's the kind of place where you can shop for the perfect gift, learn a new skill, celebrate a special occasion, or simply spend an afternoon being inspired. Every visit feels a little different, and that's part of the magic.

Tonight's Girls Night on Main is also benefiting the Alzheimer's Association, so it's a wonderful opportunity to support local businesses while giving back to a great cause. 💜 Be sure to follow Flannel on social media so you can keep up with all of their upcoming classes, workshops, events, and new arrivals. 🌎💧 Member Spotlight: Warm Springs Watershed Association 💧🌎

Happy World Conservation Day! 🌿

Have you ever stopped to think about everything it takes to protect the natural beauty that makes Morgan County so special? Probably not... and that's exactly the point.

The Warm Springs Watershed Association is one of those organizations that quietly makes a difference every single day. Since 2008, their volunteers have been working to protect our watershed through tree planting, stream monitoring, invasive species removal, education, and projects that improve water quality, reduce flooding, and encourage smarter stormwater management.

They've planted nearly 1,000 trees, spent countless hours removing invasive plants, trained citizen scientists to monitor water quality, and helped bring conversations about green infrastructure to the forefront of our community.

What we admire most about the Warm Springs Watershed Association is that they understand something simple but important: the choices we make today shape the community we'll leave behind tomorrow.

Everything they do is an investment in tomorrow. Caring for our natural resources isn't just about today. It's about making sure future generations can enjoy the same beautiful Morgan County that we do.

On this World Conservation Day, we'd like to say thank you to the incredible volunteers of the Warm Springs Watershed Association for everything you do to protect the natural resources that make our community such a special place to live, work, and visit.

💛 Communities don't build themselves. People build them. 💛

This morning, we had the pleasure of welcoming Sabrena Funk of Kesecker Realty, Inc. and Breck Place of Perry Realty LLC to their very first Berkeley Springs-Morgan Co Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors meeting!

Here's something people don't always think about. Our Board members are volunteers. They have full-time jobs. Families. Businesses to run. Appointments. Emails. Laundry. And if someone offered them an unexpected 20-minute nap this afternoon... I'm guessing neither one would say no. 😄

But they still said "yes" to serving.

Since 1952, that's exactly how the Chamber has grown. One person at a time deciding that this community is worth their time, their ideas, and sometimes a whole lot of their patience. 😉 Every Board member who has served over the past 74 years has helped shape the organization we have today. They've celebrated successes, worked through challenges, adapted as our community changed, and kept moving the Chamber forward. To every single one of those past Board members... thank you. You built something worth being part of, and we're grateful for the foundation you created. (It's so appropriate that they are standing with past board members peeking over their shoulders!)

Now it's Sabrena and Breck's turn.

We're excited to have two more seats filled around the table. Two more perspectives. Two more people who care deeply about Morgan County and are willing to roll up their sleeves and help. Sabrena and Breck, thank you for saying "yes." We are so glad you're here, and we can't wait to see what we'll accomplish together!

🔥⚙️ Sparks were flying today... and we're not just talking about the welding! 😉 ⚙️🔥

Today, the Berkeley Springs-Morgan Co Chamber of Commerce had the privilege of celebrating the opening of the new Welding Lab at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College's Pines Opportunity Center right here in Morgan County, and what an exciting day it was!

This didn't happen overnight. It's the result of literally YEARS of vision, planning, partnerships, and a whole lot of people who believed Morgan County deserved more opportunities for education, workforce development, and career training. Seeing that dream become reality was pretty special.

We heard from Dr. Peter Checkovich, Blue Ridge CTC's Founding President, members of the Board of Governors, the Morgan County Commission, and so many community partners who helped make this project possible. Looking around the room, it made me smile seeing so many Chamber members working together to invest in the future of our community! 💛

One of the things we love most about Blue Ridge CTC is that they truly meet students where they are. Whether you're a high school student getting a head start on college, an adult looking for a new career, or someone wanting to learn a new skill, there are opportunities waiting. Did you know local high school students can earn an entire year of general education college credits before they even graduate high school, often for very low or even no cost? That's an incredible opportunity for families. And Blue Ridge offers so much more than traditional college classes. Welding. HVAC. Veterinary Technology. Skilled trades. Cybersecurity. Healthcare. Business. The list goes on.

If you've had to call an HVAC technician lately, you've probably thought, "Maybe I should've gone into HVAC!" 😄 Those skills are in high demand, and for good reason. They can lead to excellent wages, long-term stability, and the opportunity to build a great life right here in Morgan County.

A huge thank you to Blue Ridge Community and Technical College for hosting today's celebration, for the wonderful lunch, and most importantly, for your continued commitment to our community. Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom, and we're grateful for everything you do.

Congratulations on this exciting milestone! We can't wait to see all the future welders who will strike their first arc right here in Morgan County.

🎡🍭🎢 It's CARNIVAL TIME, Morgan County! 🎢🍭🎡

The South Morgan Volunteer Fire Department Fireman's Carnival officially opens TONIGHT, and if you're looking for a little summer fun, they've got you covered! Celebrating their 5th year, this hometown tradition just keeps getting bigger, better, and more fun every summer. 💛

From July 14 through July 18, you'll find rides that spin, games that test your luck, live music every night, delicious carnival food, nightly BINGO, raffles, and enough fun to keep the whole family smiling. (We're not saying you have to get a funnel cake... but we're also not saying you shouldn't...and share it with me! 😄)
