Ed Roberts Campus

Ed Roberts Campus The Ed Roberts Campus (ERC) is a nonprofit (501c3) corporation that was formed by seven organizations that share a common history in the Disability Rights/Independent Living Movement (DRILM) of people with disabilities.
(12)

The seven partners are: Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program (BORP); Center for Accessible Technology (CforAT); Center for Independent Living (CIL); Computer Technologies Program (CTP); Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF); Through the Looking Glass (TLG); and World Institute on Disability (WID). The organizations joined together to plan, develop, and build a universally designed, transit-oriented building located at the Ashby BART Station in Berkeley, California. The ERC houses the offices of the collaborating organizations as well as fully accessible meeting rooms, a computer/media resource center, a fitness center, and a child development center. The Ed Roberts Campus commemorates the life and work of Edward V. Roberts, an early leader in the independent living movement of persons with disabilities. Ed believed in the strength of collaborative efforts: He called it "working toward our preferred future."
