Anger is more than an emotional response — when improperly managed, it can impact both physical and mental health. Research has linked anger to communication challenges, physical pain, substance use, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and physical abuse.

Join the Women’s Cancer Resource Center for a no-cost online CE workshop: Understanding and Treating Anger in Women.

📅 Friday, May 29, 2026
🕙 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM PST
💻 Online | 2 CE Hours Available

Presented by Tanisha Thelemaque, Ph.D. (she/they), this interactive training explores how gender shapes the ways anger is expressed, perceived, and treated in mental health settings. Participants will examine anger through a trauma-informed, intersectional, and equity-focused lens while learning practical strategies drawn from ACT, CBT, and DBT approaches.

This introductory workshop is appropriate for clinicians and providers at all levels of training and experience, and meets the qualifications for two (2) hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences..

Last week was Volunteer Appreciation Week, and we had the chance to spend time with members of the Varian, A Siemens Healthineers Team in Palo Alto as they assembled 200 bags of culturally responsive, shelf-stable food for WCRC clients in treatment.

For people facing cancer, food security is part of care. Having access to familiar, nourishing foods can help reduce stress, support people through treatment, and remind clients that their community is behind them.

Thank you to the Varian team for showing up with such care. Volunteers are part of the community that keeps WCRC connected to the people we serve, and we are so grateful for the time and energy they shared with us.

Environmental health is health equity.

Air pollution from traffic corridors, industrial activity, and wildfire smoke—and exposure to contaminants in soil and water—can increase cancer risk over time. These burdens are not shared equally. Communities already facing barriers to care are often the same communities most impacted by environmental hazards.

Cancer prevention isn’t only about individual choices. It’s about advocating for clean air, safe water, and healthier communities.
