Hi everyone,
I know we haven’t posted in a while since we are no longer the Berkley Animal Inspectors, but I wanted to reach out to our neighbors and farm friends to keep everyone up to date.
As many of you know, my colleague, best friend, and partner in crime, George Faria, passed away in February. His loss has been deeply felt, and I wanted to take a moment to honor him and the work we were so passionate about together.
Years ago, the Town of Berkley had a fund to help stray domestic animals with veterinary bills. Unfortunately, in our hearts and minds, that fund was depleted far too soon—and we were devastated. So we decided to take matters into our own hands and created the Berkley Angel Fund.
Over time, people often wanted to give us a “tip” for helping their animals. While we couldn’t ethically accept money personally, we would direct them to this fund instead—and people were always happy to contribute.
Thanks to your generosity, we’ve been able to help so many—covering vet bills, supporting stray cats through TNR, and giving families the ability to compassionately help their pets cross the rainbow bridge when they otherwise couldn’t afford to.
When George’s wife, Arlene Faria, asked me which animal fund people could donate to in lieu of flowers, I didn’t hesitate: the Berkley Angel Fund.
Donations can be made to Lakeville Animal Hospital, with “Berkley Angel Fund” in the memo section.
I’m proud to share that, through years of support and the recent generosity of George’s friends and family, the fund now has just under $1,400. While that may not seem like much when it comes to veterinary care, I truly believe in the “starfish story”—if we can make a difference for even one, it matters.
Please feel free to reach out if you need help for your fur baby or if you would like to help continue this legacy in George’s name. I am proud to carry on this mission and continue helping the animals of Berkley in his honor. ❤️
