Today, we had a great time hosting the Berkley Middle School TLC class for a visit to Berkley Fire/Rescue!

The students got to meet FF Greco and FF Dupuis, try on firefighting gear, check out the fire trucks and ambulance, and learn a little about what we do every day. They asked some fantastic questions and had plenty of smiles along the way.

We even talked their teacher into trying on some fire gear, which may have been the highlight of the visit!

Thanks to the TLC class and staff for stopping by. We loved having you at the station and hope everyone had as much fun as we did! 🚒❤️

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness secured the freedoms we enjoy each and every day.

From all of us at Berkley Fire/Rescue, we also extend our deepest gratitude to all active duty service members, veterans, and retired members of the Armed Forces for their continued service and sacrifice to our nation.

We ask our community to take a moment this Memorial Day to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday and remember those who never made it home.

May we never forget their sacrifice.

It is with heavy hearts that all of us at Berkley Fire/Rescue extend our deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters of Boston Firefighters Local 718 IAFF, the Boston Fire Department, and the family and friends of Firefighter Robert Kilduff Jr.

Firefighter Kilduff made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while serving the residents of Boston last night.

During this tragic time, we ask our community to keep his loved ones, fellow firefighters, and all those affected in their thoughts and prayers.

The Public Safety Building is ready for Monday’s Memorial Day ceremony thanks in large part to the generosity of a local resident who volunteered both his time and materials to help improve the landscaping around the building.

Today, Maurice Butler spent the day removing old overgrown bushes surrounding the Steve Andrews Memorial and refreshing the area with new mulch around the sign and trees. His hard work and dedication helped ensure the memorial looks its best as we prepare to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

On behalf of all of us at Berkley Fire/Rescue, thank you Maurice for your generosity, pride in our community, and support of this important memorial.

As EMS Week comes to a close, it’s especially fitting that we congratulate our high school intern, Jason Poissant, on successfully passing both his NREMT written and practical exams.

We couldn’t be happier to see how much Jason has grown and progressed since beginning his internship with Berkley Fire/Rescue in September. His hard work, dedication, and commitment to learning have truly paid off, and we are proud to have been part of his journey into EMS.

Congratulations Jason — we look forward to seeing all that you accomplish in the future!

At approximately 4:15 PM, Berkley Fire/Rescue and Berkley Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Myricks Street and Church Street for a motor vehicle accident involving multiple patients.

A total of five occupants were transported to local hospitals by Berkley A-1 and A-2, along with mutual aid ambulances from Freetown Fire Department, Lakeville Fire Department, and Brewster Ambulance Service. All injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening.

We would like to thank our mutual aid partners and Berkley Police for their assistance on scene.

At approximately 3:15 PM today, Freetown Fire Department requested a mutual aid tanker from Berkley Fire/Rescue for a structure fire at 5 Matawa Dr. Berkley Tanker 1 and Car 1 responded to the scene, where crews assisted with water supply operations and manpower.

Thanks to the quick actions of Freetown crews, the fire was knocked down before it could significantly extend throughout the home. Mutual aid partnerships like these remain critical, especially as many surrounding communities are facing potential significant budget cuts. Working together allows departments to continue providing the level of emergency response our residents depend on while supporting one another during large-scale incidents.
