A great stop was made by these firemen and our engine operator!

2/28/26- At 12:25am Berkshire Fire was dispatched to structure fire. Upon arrival a supply line was laid into the scene and an attack line was stretched into the home. Firefighters were encountered with a well involved room and contents fire. A quick knockdown and check for extension got the fire under control quickly. This fire had the potential to spread rapidly not only within the home but to a nearby garage.

We thank Maine EMS, our dispatchers, and a special thank you to Newark Valley Fire not only for the mutual aid, but for the opportunity to have our members train almost weekly with you. Training matters and it has been shown here today.

We hope that everyone is safe after the storm this afternoon. We just cleared our last incident for the evening and wanted to take a moment to share a few things.

-There are still numerous downed trees along and in roadways. Some may contain live electrical lines. Local highway departments are working to clear these up once power is de-energized.

-Some roadways are covered in leaf debris and can be extremely slippery.

-If you have a life threatening emergency please dial 911. If you require non emergency assistance from the fire department, please call (607) 687-1010 and give the dispatchers details of what assistance is needed.

-If you are using an emergency generator, please make sure that it is OUTSIDE of your home. This also means OUTSIDE of your attatched garage. Windows to your home should also be closed if they are within the proximity of your generator so exhaust can not enter your home.

We haven't posted in a while so here is what we have been up to! Today we provided water to cool down the students at the Newark Valley Middle School. The past two tuesdays we have completed joint training with NVFD. Members went through the drills for arriving on scene and auto extrication. We thank the Newark Valley Fire Department for allowing us to work with their department and provide top notch training to members!
