Jax and I had a great time today at the Berlin Fire Department’s Open House! 🐾🚒
He had the chance to meet so many new friends, spread some love, and, of course, make sure he got his fair share of attention. And what would an outing be without a few photo ops? 📸 Berlin Police Department, Boonefield Labradors, Jan Gottesman, Berlin Fire & EMS Department

Today was a very special day for Sgt. Gilchrest and K9 Jax as we had the honor of attending the launch of the Worcester County Comfort Dog Collaborative, an incredible initiative made possible through a COSSUP grant awarded by the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.

This funding will help support comfort dog programs throughout Worcester County and allow these incredible teams to continue providing comfort, compassion, and a sense of peace to individuals and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

We are truly grateful to District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. and the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office for recognizing the tremendous impact comfort dogs can have in our communities and for investing in these programs. As part of this initiative, K9 Jax was honored to receive $21,000 in grant funding to support his comfort dog program and the important work he does in our community. Their support means that K9 Jax and his fellow comfort dogs will have even more opportunities to bring a little comfort and hope to those who need it most.

It was an honor to stand alongside so many dedicated law enforcement agencies and their comfort dog teams today. We are proud to be part of this collaborative effort and look forward to continuing the important work of bringing comfort, support, and a little bit of Jax’s unconditional love wherever it is needed. 🐾❤️

Thank you to everyone who helped make this initiative possible. We are excited for what lies ahead! Berlin Police Department, Boonefield Labradors, Jan Gottesman,Joseph D. Early Jr., Worcester County District Attorney's Office

Today I want to wish my buddy, partner, and K9 Jax a very happy 3rd birthday! 🐾❤️

Jax, I’m not sure you’ll ever truly know how much you mean to me. Thank you for the laughs, the memories, the companionship, and most importantly, the unconditional love you bring with you every single day. There’s something pretty special about having a partner who is always by your side, no matter what the day brings.

I’m incredibly grateful that I get to come to work every day and have you right there beside me. You’ve become so much more than just my K9 partner—you’re my buddy, my teammate, and a big part of my everyday life.

Happy 3rd birthday, Jax! You’re one of a kind, and I’m lucky to have you. ❤️🐾🎂 Berlin Police Department, Boonefield Labradors, Jan Gottesman

Happy Sunday, everyone!

While I was hard at work trying to finish a grant, I looked over at my partner, K9 Jax… apparently he decided his part of the assignment was to supervise from dreamland. 😴🐾
I guess someone’s got to keep morale up! Wouldn’t trade this partner for the world. Hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and blessed Sunday! Berlin Police Department, Boonefield Labradors, Jan Gottesman

🐾🚔 K9 Jax took a break from his busy schedule for a little "fluff and buff" today at PetSmart Grooming!

A huge shoutout to Sarah for taking such great care of the big guy. She got him looking and smelling his best. Now he's all cleaned up, styling, and ready to get back out in the community—although he might spend a little extra time admiring all the compliments on his fresh look! 😄

Thank you again, Sarah, for taking such great care of Jax. We truly appreciate everything you do! 🐾Berlin Police Department, Boonefield Labradors, Jan Gottesman, PetSmart

Jax and I had the opportunity to meet with Officer Schaeffer and Franny (Jax's sister) this morning for some tracking training before the temperatures became too hot.

Every time I watch these dogs work, I'm reminded of just how incredible they are. Whether Jax is providing comfort to someone going through a difficult time or putting his nose to the ground on a track, his focus and determination never change. It's amazing to see the instinct, drive, and training come together every time he's asked to do a job.

While Jax gets a lot of the attention, none of it would be possible without the dedicated people behind the scenes who have invested countless hours training him and helping him become the dog he is today. Their commitment, patience, and passion are what make these partnerships so successful.

A heartfelt thank you to Hudson K9 and Professional K9 Services for their outstanding training and continued support. Your dedication to developing exceptional working dogs is truly appreciated.

I'd also like to thank Boonefield Labradors for breeding such remarkable dogs. The quality, temperament, and work ethic they produce are second to none, and we're fortunate to have Jax as part of our department.

To everyone who has played a role in Jax's journey—thank you. Your hard work and dedication make a difference every single day, and our department and community are better because of it. 🐾 Berlin Police Department, Jan Gottesman, Boonefield Labradors, Hudson K-9 Training Center, Professional Canine Services
