Berlin VFD We are located in the heart of Berlin, Ga at 174 Wilkes Street. The Berlin, Ga. fire dept is located at 174 Wilkes Street Berlin, Ga. 31722. Chief. members !

Mark Bridwell is our current Chief and has been serving as Chief for 26 years. Craig Hiers is our Asst. We currently have 11 active members and are always taking applications for more! Like I stated before, we are always taking applications for volunteers and we also have Jr. For a volunteer:

*Over the age of 18
*Live within 5 miles of the department
*Cannot be a convicted felon
*Required to comp

lete the appropriate Firefighting classes within the allotted amount of time given
*Attend weekly training (Tuesday nights)

***Volunteers have to maintain a certain number of training hours per year to stay active***

Jr Member :

*B/t the ages of 16-18
*Have to attend weekly training (Tuesday nights)
*Cannot respond to ANY calls

**This program is designed so that when you turn 18 you are fully ready to respond to calls and be a full time volunteer**

Today, the Colquitt County Fire Association is deploying one fire engine staffed with two of our firefighters, along with four firefighters from the City of Moultrie, as a unified team to assist with the wildfires east of our area.

We are proud and fortunate to be in a position to send resources to help during this ongoing emergency. These fires have placed a tremendous strain on the communities affected and on the firefighters who have been battling them for days on end.

Please keep our firefighters traveling to assist in your prayers, and also remember the crews already on the front lines working tirelessly to contain these fires and protect lives and property. We pray for their safety, strength, and safe return home.

Attention Colquitt County Citizens:

As of today, we are requesting that all citizens CEASE burning any wood piles, yard debris, or any other types of outdoor burning activity (including prescribed fire) until we get some rain and moisture on the ground.

Colquitt County is currently under D4 – Exception Drought conditions, which is the highest level possible.

The dry conditions, along with persistent wind over the last several weeks, have resulted in multiple fires getting out of control, both locally and around the state. Our local Fire Departments and local Georgia Forestry Commission units do not have the capacity to respond to the number of calls being received. This could become an issue for the public’s safety.

Please note that if a citizen is conducting a burn, and the Fire Department is dispatched, they will extinguish the fire regardless of what is being burned or its location.
