We’re looking to add two seasonal team members to the crew.

One position at our Bayside Rental Stand and one retail spot at the Beach Hut and Five Tides.

Both are part time, around 2 to 3 shifts per week. Weekend availability is required for at least one day, both days preferred.

Earth Day is a good reminder of what makes Assateague special.

We partner with - a local nonprofit working to protect the bays through water quality monitoring, habitat restoration, and education right here on the Eastern Shore.

A portion of our profits goes to support their work, helping keep these waters clean and this ecosystem healthy.

Every time you support us, you are supporting the bays too.

Happy Earth Day

We’re getting a jump on the season this year.

With some extra staff ready to go, we’re opening a couple spots earlier than planned.

The Five Tides opens this Friday, 4/24, and will be open Friday through Sunday until we ramp up to 7 days a week starting 5/15.

Our Bayside Kayak Stand will also start weekday rentals on 5/1, a few weeks ahead of our usual schedule.

Read the room, my guy. Wild horses doing wild horse things. Watch from a distance and respect their space.

Sinepuxent Inlet was the largest inlet in the recorded history of Assateague Island. It was located south of Old Ferry Landing. Open from the 1600s until 1818, oceangoing ships used this important waterway to bring goods to and from communities along the coastal bays.

During the American Revolution, the British navy implemented a blockade in the Chesapeake Bay, cutting off commerce and the supply of goods to American rebels. While the blockade stopped ships transporting goods in and out of the Chesapeake Bay, the nearby inlets and sheltered waters of Assateague Island provided backup ports where ships could unload goods.

In addition to trading goods with merchant vessels, the seaside towns around Assateague were also frequented by privateers, who were armed merchant vessels authorized by the local government to capture or destroy British ships.
